The butterfly is a universal symbol of transformation, new beginnings, and hope, making it a fitting metaphor for the New Year.

I have created 3 different shadow boxes with pinned insects. A larger butterfly and moth box mix, a singular moth box and a beetle box.

- The butterfly and moth box from left to right contains the Madagascan sunset moth, Buckeye, Sulpher, Urania swallowtail, Cypris morpho, Rhetenor blue morpho, and the Scarce swallowtail.

-The singular pinned moth box contains the the African death's-head hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos) is the largest moth in the British Isles.

-The third box contains Serrognathus titanus, which is a species of beetle in the family Lucanidae. This species is widely distributed in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, India, Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea. The male's antler-like jaws have small teeth along inner edge and a pair of big teeth toward the bottom, and are forked at end.

Each one of the boxes are complete with tiny pins and glass to securely and safely contain the specimens.
