Default New pattern categories?
Is it possible to create new pattern categories?

Asking because I feel the clunkiness of CAST is partially caused by the limited categories. "Themed" and "Geometric" have a huge amount of stuff in them, so they take forever to load.

If I could, I would have an entire category for "Florals" alone. "Stripes," "Polka Dots", "Kid Stuff," etc.

I just found out this is totally possible!

Add them to MaterialCategories (xml) in ui.package and they work fine. You can make new strings for them easily too also.

Two problems so far, one solved:

if you are moving a game pattern in patternlist (PTRN) in fullbuild0.package to a new category, then you also need to find that individual pattern's self-named xml and change the category there

new categories have plain white border swatches and I don't know how to change this (I would like eg fabric-style pinked edges for my new lace category)

I came here searching for a solution to the 2nd problem!

I solved the 2nd problem! It's easier than it seems. There are files called like Leather_Fur_swatch_256 & Leather_Fur_swatch_64 in the fullbuild. Just make new xmls following that pattern (using the new internal category name you made) and paste in from the swatch style you want, and just change the name inside the 1 time it appears, on the first line.

It seems like you could make new swatch styles too, but I haven't experimented yet, and don't have any ideas anyway.

Look at the new Leather category, with cute fabric swatches (Don't look at how I can't successfully change "Leathers & Furs" to "Fur", omg i hate stbls soooooooo much)

edit: I fixed the stbl issue thanks to Buzzler
