About apartments: the one complaint I have is that you have to literally get out of the apartment lot to visit another neighbor's lot-including another apartment in the lot itself!
You can't just point with your mouse to get there. That's the one thing that would the best mod of all. I hate playing (and avoid it at all costs-including using any apartments) those kinds of lots.

Plus, if you have a neighborhood that is not in the 20th century with paved roads, you can't change the road in front of an apartment without it reverting every single time when you play that lot. That is highly irritating.

Found a mod for community lot parties. http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...6g8jqme2bo31lu2

What do you mean 'visit another neighbour's lot'? You can't usually visit other sims unless you have Chris Hatch's hack.

Even if you change the road before moving anyone in?

That sounds pretty complicated. In Bodyshop you can't save tops and bottoms to any other category that I can see.

You need to use something like Wardrobe Wrangler or SimPE to set separates for categories other than Everyday. You can't see them in Bodyshop or CAS, but you can when setting outfits in game.

No, you have to use a secondary program for the recategorizing, but I think you can bulk-set categories in the Outfit Organizer so it does mostof the job for you, which would cut down the time (and it's easier, just a bunch of tick boxes. If you look through the outfits in Bodyshop first, and keep the Cigen file, the program even shows previews. SimPE is the "hard" way, where you need to know (or read up on) the various hex codes for everything.

There's also the Wardrobe Wrangler. It's quite old, but does the trick. I don't think it allows for bulk editing, though.

(Personally I tend to stick with SimPE, mostly because I also tend to do edit other things while I'm messing about with the files, but also because I'm hoplessly old-fashion when it comes to using new tools, and usually end up defaulting to the old ones again out of old habits that apparently die really hard )

To go to another lot to play it.

I check the Lot Sync Timer, check which family has not been played and then I move onto the next lot. I did NOT mean to go as a family to the lot. meant as playing that lot.

I do rotational playing.

Do you have a hack that lets you move from lot to lot without going to the neighbourhood screen first?

Does that allow you to go to any other lot? I thought it just allowed you to visit the lot next door.

Clicking on any neighbor's house allows you to switch over to playing that household. So, it's not 'visiting', but switching between households to play.

No.

Normally when I'm playing a lot I can find another house, and (clickable neighbors) jump to it without having to go to the neighborhood screen. (I do have that and expanded view)

Apartments are the sole exception to this rule.

You HAVE to go to the neighborhood screen to go to another lot-even another apartment. Even the 'clickable neighbors does not work in this instance. Try it yourself and see.

There is no 'hack' otherwise available that I know of to make this happen. The LST does not do that because after BV it wouldn't work and Pescado refused to update it.

Well this is going in the "features i want" list of mine. Why didn't the devs add such a feature? It's useful.

If everyone in the lot you're trying to visit is not present, when you enter said lot and knock on the door, you'll get a notification saying no one is at home.

But if you enter the lot at a late time (12 AM to 6 AM), one of the household members will get out in their pajamas, and yell at your Sim. Then you get a message from them.

"Are you stupid enough to realize that we're asleep?!"
"Hey idiot, did you forget to check the time?"

CBF detected, loser! Click between Frames is illegitimate and will not be allowed for use in The Sims 2. Please disable the mod in order to continue playing.

Actually Chris Hatch has a hack that does exactly that. You can visit neighbors but you have to remember what time they go to bed because they will be asleep if you left that particular lot when they were asleep.

My lots run from 6 am to 6 am with a hack that enforces sleep from 11 on until 9 am for everyone. (yes, it is available-XPTL did it.) Any visitors who do show up before 9 am feel the effects of exhaustion.

@FranH : So all your Sims sleep from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. every night?!

Don't your kids have to be in school for 9 a.m. like ours do in Veronaville? *

Note: * Except that at present they're on holiday/vacation, so they don't have to go to school at all!!

The mod (a hacked clock) makes everyone outside the household sleepy until 9 am, but the household is up at 6 fully refreshed. The sleep is enforced from 11 pm to 6am for the residents (and pets, too!)

I have mods to keep babies/toddlers asleep, along with elders. I don't like people being up at 4 am in the morning like me right now!

The kids go to school every day at 8, come home at 1 pm.

We don't have holidays in Duma Key or Thalia. Weekends are enough, thank you very much!

I've never tried the clickable neighbours (so I don't actually know why I have it on lol). I always go to the neighbourhood first. Paranoia that the lot won't save properly otherwise (even though I saved it before exiting).

I remember that it seemed like a useful option when I was little and my game had a lot of lag, but nowadays I hardly use it, if it were to visit the neighbors it would be great. xDD

1) I wish there was a way to change thumbnail type in game. I'm aware thumbnails can be regenerated in game, but they always use the default background. Imagine being able to choose your thumbnail background color, lighting, etc. from within the game. It would offer more customization and personalization.

2) Hashtags and a content search function, similar to TS4 but my idea would allow you add and delete tags from within the game without needing to use external editing programs. Allowing you to further customize your searches.

3) It'd also be cool to be able to have a notepad in-game where you could add notes to your CC. I was playing Assetto Corsa via the Content Manager, which allows you to add notes to each content so you can know what the quality is or where you got something from without cluttering up the actual description. It's simple but really nice to have.

Actually, all three of these are in the AC content manager and would be beneficial to TS2 imo.

Why oh why did they not add a search function to Bodyshop/CAS?

Speaking of body shop, i really wish i could export my CC easily. Another thing added to my list... Why does Sims 2 gotta be hard (to use)?

Export it how?
Bodyshop to the game? Or move it from folder to folder? Or some other thing?

I worded it horribly. I meant like, sharing my CC so i can share it. No tutorials on how to share CC sadly...

Depends on what you want to share, I guess? Most TS2 files are easy to share (sims2pack for lots/sims, or package files for almost everything else).

The easiest is to zip up the files, upload to a host (Simfileshare, Mediafire, etc.) and post them on a site like Tumblr or similar, with a description and some pictures. Already established forums usually have uploading guidelines/rules, but are easier to use for posting. On most sites it's not much harder than making a post where you share links+pictures.

If you want to post here at MTS, there are guidelines (look under "upload" at the top)
https://modthesims.info/rubrics/
https://wizard.modthesims.info/

I think there's a guide somewhere on how to pack up/find the various files, but it's really not that hard. Lot files can be packed ingame (PackagedLots folder), sim files in Bodyshop (saves to desktop), recolors you've done in Bodyshop can be found in SavedSims, and anything you've done with SimPE you should already know where you saved. Probably some others (a couple pet-related, but I'd have to look those up since I don't do those much).

It's always good karma to include credits for any parts that aren't fully your creation, especially if you're recoloring or frankensteining meshes, recolors, mods, etc. by other people, and check if it's okay to include meshes or other needed items (for sims, lots, clothes, furniture, etc. - items from long dead sites might be fine, but items by currently active creators could depend on the item/creator)

Look over a few posts in the place you decide you want to use, maybe some of your favorite creators, and see what you like about their outlay and how they set up their posts.

20-years-ago-Maxis only had so many brains working for them and quite honestly those brains understood that if you dyed your hair, it wouldn't bleed into your womb and give your baby puke green hair. You should give them grace for not including contacts (a thing you can remedy with CC) or customizable hairstyles (slightly remedied by a wide variety of CC). ..At least we have bouncy hairs.
Something I would have appreciated to have would be a Postal System. The Post Office is an integral part of real life.. and they could have made a fun little pack out of it. Think! It could have been called:
The Sims 2; Stamp-Mail Stuff
(a work in progress name of course..) but of-course, this has already been implemented by that Postal System mod that MogHudson (i think) made in like 2009.
..all I can think is that with certain things unincluded, like laundry and visitable schools or work places.. or even hospitals, they wanted to keep the game as simple and as divorced from real life as possible. For you to want to come back to the game for a nice escape from reality. If you'd really want these things, look to the 20 year old community and see what it offers. It's not that hard to search on your version of google, utilize your reading skills, and throw some files into your designated Downloads folder.
...I dunno, but there's a reason why people keep coming back, and I think it's for its complex but simple gameplaying nature...And for the fact that you don't have to have so much extra stuff forced on you (unlike Sims 4\3 and it's whole.. everything).
Everyone always wants everything.
