They won't be able to make turkey or lobster, but it's something.

You don't need CC for a stove with no oven, the ShinyTime cooktop works just fine for that.

As I understand it, Edith just compiles down into SimAntics, and we can already edit that in SimPE.

Would be cool if you could reload individual packages to speed up debugging. Those "organization chart" boxes aren't that helpful if the script gets big and you need to drag it with the mouse left and right. A lot of the background has stayed the same since the Sims 1. What they show on the Edith video or on the Volcanic paper is just differently arranged in the dialogs.
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

IIRC the main advantage with Edith is that you can make modifications during runtime.

EDITH: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=685286

I had NO idea that there was a version of Edith circulating! I knew somebody uploaded some videos of tinkering with Edith, and that people had reached out to that individual asking how/where to get it. But i didn't know anybody actually got it. The linked post is TS1. Is that compatible with TS2, or is there a separate version of TS2?

Thanks for posting that link! I thought that a release of Edith would be MUCH bigger news in the community...

ps
Edith's family, 'The Bunkers' featured Gloria and Meathead! Darren and Samantha were from Bewitched! hahahha

No problem! TBH, I didn't even know what it was until you mentioned it, googled it, and when someone asked what it was, I just shared the thread I found.

But it's so ugly it doesn't fit nicely into a residential setting, IMO. I also never use it because I have the mod that makes it spawn the dorm cook on any lot.

There are a couple of versions of these floating around. Apparently mixing and matching is not possible due to some of the way it's written.

I want celebrities so bad. I get that sims 2 is most realistically meant to be a suburb/village/small town game but a subtle celeb mod would be cool.

If I could mod, wouldn't be anything crazy and annoying, not Taylor Swift level of fame for sure. What would be cool is whenever a sim enters a community lot, the sim's picture appears in everyone's bubble, in a sense that they recognized the sim. People would try to greet them, ask them for an autograph (or a selfie if we're being modern), some may have the "surprised" reaction. There can be paparazzi like in Sims 3. Other sims would constantly gossip about you.

The celeb status can be obtained when a sim reaches a certain level in their career, not by association like in the Sims 3. The careers that can make someone famous is an entertainment career, music, politics, culinary (lvl 10 is literally a celebrity chef), and custom careers like modeling, Life Stories acting, fashion design and other that make sense.

The sim would get invited to red carpet events, awards or political rallys but they would just leave in a limo and come back in a couple hours. It can either be a disaster or a sucess. If they won an award, they will bring it home like a date bouqet. Networking perks would be constant - free meals, free TVs, people would really want to date you.

moonlight__ For me, the sims 2 always needed a fame expansion, also developing the magical creatures a little more. xDD

The closest thing you have to fame is the reputation system that came with AL. The better your reputation, the more likely it is for you to get benefits of all sorts...

Back in the day, there were a LOT of creators who designed very high quality and recognizable celebrity sims. I don't see as many now as i used to, and a lot of sites that had really good ones are gone. MTS has some. That'd get you the look, but it sounds to me like you want more than look-alikes, you want a playable scenario. I don't know how TS3 did it, but what you're describing sounds a LOT like features that came in The Sims: SUPERSTAR, with a sprinkle of House Party thrown in. There were paparazzi, stalkers, awards, star-power, guided tour buses, platinum records, and oh so much more! I think it even had the thought bubbles and the other sims attracted to celebrities -- though I can't remember if that was for all high-ranking celebrities or just for Drew Carey and Marilyn Monroe. It really was a fantastic expansion pack. Odd that it didn't get carried over to TS2 at all. It might've been a good way to turn M&G from an SP to an EP, instead of a "half-way" pack. Good memories from Superstar (except that damned stalker!).

If you snag the new Legacy Pack with TS1 and TS2, try it out. Superstar was loads of fun! See if that resembles the kind of stuff you were hoping for in TS2.

I'll try increasing reputation then to test it.

Noo, not the photographic accurate celebs, but rather my fictional sim celebs. I used to find that impressive but useless. Why would I want an uncanny Britney Spears in my game?

I never played that EP but I watched gameplays. If I remember, the only famous people are NPCs based on real people. Maybe I'll play it someday. My ideas is based on Sims 3, except it's annoying and badly made. If a sim is famous, her entire family and friends will be famous like the Kardashians, the half of the town will be famous sooner or later.

I feel like my idea makes achieving fame harder and more rigid and it behaves like a town would behave if a A-B lister lived in a town - they expect them to appear, be a little star struck but not frantic like when spoting them somewhere random in NYC (this is from personal experience and other people's experience lol). We would be like "OH, that's X...okay, let's go".

In any case, Superstar's work system in addition to the scenarios, objects, npcs, was incredibly immersive, so I think an expansion with those elements mixed with some things from Sims 3 and 4 would be ideal.

Superstar was difficult but it is my favorite Sims 1 expansion, along with vacation and making magic, and maybe pets for the new hood. xD

Well, that's kinda why I said that it sounded like you wanted something a little more immersive than just celebrity sims.

No, not at all... the game came with several celebrity sims, and had celebrity sims you could download... but your playables could go to Studio Town and pick up different jobs related to famous occupations... singing, acting, modeling, etc. As they successfully completed mini-games, they earned more star power, and unlocked bigger opportunities to become famous. As they grew in fame, they got more attention. Their households didn't automatically become famous. Your sim had to grow their fame and then sustain it. It was much more than just spotting famous sims walking across your sidewalk or bumping into them in Studio Town every now and again. Your sim got to become famous, and people were drawn to them. I think there was even a reporter that would pop up and write stories about your sim, IIRC... The game was so much fun, and really added a lot to gameplay. It's not basic, and it's not so easy that soon everybody's famous. It didn't work that way.

Plus, it had some of the greatest new items that it added to the game... hahaha

The difficulty is what makes it so good IMO. Becoming famous and being able to maintain that fame feels incredibly rewarding.

That does remind me of a difficulty-related fun fact though: the director animations in the minigames actually correspond with the specific actions they want you to do. It does make things easier if you learn to recognise them.
