Default Playing with PC software on a mac?
Sorry if this is technically the wrong forum, but this isn't an issue much as a "how do I do this" question.

I recently got my pc software back from a friend which included thr base game and much of its expansions. Of course, I originally gave my friend this software when I switched to mac, and now have a mac version of the game. However, since I do have ft and al, two expansions never made for the mac, I'd like to attempt to get this PC software working on my mac. I think I know how to have teo separate games running at once, and I've heard that one can use pc software on macs with the help of something called a "wrapper." I do have the pc base game.

So, could anyone help me get a pc version of ts2 running on a mac computer? Thanks.

That was not helpful, funny, or love!

You'll need to have Boot Camp or another PC emulator installed on your Mac. (Boot Camp comes with all computers running Snow Leopard or higher.) You will also need to have a Windows install disc -- not a recovery disc, an actual install disc -- and you'll have to buy it separately, since Boot Camp doesn't include Windows. You can install any version of Windows you like; I'd recommend avoiding Windows 8 as it doesn't seem to play nice with TS2.

There's a quick video about installing Boot Camp on the Apple site here: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#windowsmac

I have a Mac, and I have Boot Camp, but I refuse to have Windows, so I'm afraid this is all the help I can be personally. I think, though, that once you have Windows installed, you just act like you have a PC and everything works.

Do bear in mind, though, that if your Mac has an Intel integrated graphics card (most of the newer ones do), you won't be able to play TS2 effectively no matter what OS you're using. The integrated card is not up to the job, and sooner or later it will burn out and take your motherboard with it.

Bootcamp is the only way to go as Wineskin( A "wrapping" program) doesn't work well with TS2.

I think I have a windows disk I can get. Thank you.

I don't think I have an intel chip-- I've been playing the mac version for a few years now and it runs like a dream.

Could you click the Apple icon in the top left and go to "About this Mac" and post here what you find because we might be able to help you a bit more.

Just because it seems to work with the game doesn't mean you don't have an Intel chip; I've had more than one computer with an Intel chip that I played the game on and it seemed to work fine. What we're saying is that the game will take its toll on the integrated graphics chip as well as the motherboard.

EDIT: I will add that I don't see how the Windows version would be any worse for it than the Mac version. Personally, I just chalk it up to planned obsolescence; if a game that is ten years old causes damage to a computer, then what else causes damage to the computer? That said, I'm willing to take the risk with my corporate surplus computers that I buy off of eBay for about $100, but I know Macs cost a lot of money, so it's up to you whether you want to risk shortening the life span of your Mac, if it has an Intel graphics card. If it doesn't have an Intel graphics card, than this may not apply to you.
