Hi! Just wondering if anybody knows where this animation comes from? Like to me it looks a little like an adult doing baby animations but I'm not entirely sure... It's from the news channel on TV.

^ Looks a bit like the "baby crying" animations.

If it is, quick guess is that they enabled the animations for older sims spesifically to make this video.

For players, extracting the animation and putting it in an animation box, with the pose enabled for older ages, would be less problematic than setting a sim's age to infant and make them cry (the sim can't be interacted with in the baby-state, and often causes errors when interacted with).

I have a completely different problem. If I had to sit through an extensive education to be able to hold a driver's licence, I feel like so should my Sims!

Default And are there nectarine tartlettes still for tea? (Apologies to Rupert Brooke)
Whenever I see my Sims eating nectarine tartlettes in a restaurant, I can't help thinking how delicious they look. I've just installed Morague's mod to let them make them at home.

Now one of my Sims, Amanda Hunt is running a lunch-time restaurant in Monopolis (by Veronaville). Now Amanda currently has a cooking skill level of 7. The description of Morague's mod says that a cooking skill level of 4 is sufficient to make nectarine tartlettes at home, but the (Fandom) Sims wiki says that a cooking skill level of 10 is needed to cook nectarine tartlettes to be served in a restaurant. So I'm wondering whether Amanda (with the help of Morague's mod) will be able to make and serve nectarine tartlettes in her restaurant. Unless somebody here does know, I suspect the only way to find out is to try it and see. The restaurant has already had its moments, and about the last thing it needs, is to gain a reputation for serving burnt food! Amanda is not a total idiot, and she'll make, serve and eat them at least twice at home before she attempts to serve them in the restaurant.

Finally they look so delicious that I know I'd like to try them too! So, does anyone know a good (and preferably easy) recipe for making nectarine tartlettes? Or where to find such a recipe? Cooking skill level is probably still relevant: I suspect my cooking skill is nearer to level 4 than it is to level 10! (I burn food regularly, mainly by walking away from the stove to play The Sims!)

(If anyone is wondering, the title of his post is a deliberate misquotation of the final line of Rupert Brooke's poem The Old Vicarage, Grantchester.)

I founds many nectarine tart recipes, but not too many for tartlettes!

https://liliscakes.com/2023/08/26/c...e-tarts-recipe/
https://shicocooks.com/recipe/necta...ipane-tartlets/

I like the sound of the second one best!

Otherwise you could find a good nectarine tart recipe and adapt it to tartlettes; you'd just need to reduce baking time a little I think. I recommend shutting down the Sims 2 whilst attempting these recipes!

@AndrewGloria - here is mine.

Buy the tartlet cups (or whatever one calls them) - and just make the filling. Or the frozen puff pastry/short crust, you can use phyllo too - you can of course make the dough if you really, really, really want to

Mascarpone or cream cheese - 1 to 2 cups, depending on how many you want to make.
lemon juice - half a teaspoon
nectarines - cut slices in half and push the insides out
corn starch to keep the stuff together (around 1 tsp for 2 cups of cheese)
finely chopped fresh mint leaves (just a bit)
a mango - optional, but it amazing Cut in tiny blocks and add to the filling.

Cut slices in half and push the insides out? What does that mean? Are we meaning the same thing by "nectarine?" In my life a nectarine is a strain of peach (the original strain of peach, which is surprising) with a smooth skin instead of fuzzy. There's no inside to push anywhere, though you presumably peel them for cooking, then cut slices off the pit.

If I wanted to make a nectarine tartlette I'd modify a peach pie recipe, cooking the nectarine slices with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and maybe a little cornstarch or flour if it's coming out runny, for the filling. (Oh, yes, and dot with butter. You generally dot pie filling with butter.) I don't know the distinction between a tart and a tartlette, but my Betty Crocker cookbook says to make tarts with 4" circles of pie crust if making in muffin cups or ramkins, or 5" circles if making in an actual tart shell.

That is what I know as a nectarine as well - and you are correct about pushing everything out - I just meant get as much as possible out of the skin. Sometimes, English still fails me. Your recipe sounds yummy as well. (Actually sounds like we make apple pie here).

My way of making is a traditional one in my family, my grandma used to make them; she never used a recipe book, so you needed to watch and learn. Cooking has been a kind of hobby, I have learned most of what I can do well through trial and error

That's certainly one thing to respect about the elderly - They often know how to DIY. My grandmother used to be heavily into sewing. If you had a rip in your jeans, she'd be the one to turn to. Unfortunately that was a trade that never passed down.

That sounds amazing! Have to try next summer when there are peaches or nectarines. Do you cook the filling or precook the crust and use a raw filling?

I bake it a bit because I buy these pretty little tartlet cups which are not pre-cooked, and also for the corn starch (pre-heated oven, 180 degrees Celcius here) - takes around 8 to 10 minutes.

Without baking, you need to leave out the corn starch, and keep it very cold because it can get a bit runny, but it is still delicious

My random question - Is it better to pre-furnish apartment units or is it okay to leave them empty? Are there any drawbacks to gameplay or stability by not furnishing? I'm making a lot of apt. lots in my GTA2 'hood and I can get rather lazy often opting to leave the units empty so that's why I ask if this is truly good to do or should I just spend some time and properly furnish them?

I think it's best to furnish them with the bare minimum: a bathroom, a kitchen, a bed. Because every time they're rented out again, all the furniture that the Sims who lived there and bought while they were there disappears, and the original decor you put in while no one was living there reappears. Although I also think it's better not to overdo it, because otherwise the rent goes up too much. xD Personally, in my neighborhoods, I decided to go all out and decorate them quite a bit.

The game puts townies into any remaining apartments when your sims move into the building, If you didn't place furniture while the building was empty of residents, the townies' apartments will stay bare.
I don't think it causes any gameplay issue, but if your sims visit their neighbours, it will look pretty weird.

If you don't put in plumbing and kitchen fixtures, your families won't have any when they move in.

Visiting neighbours is one of the fun things for me when playing apartments, so I always furnish all apartments with basic necessities- kitchen, bathroom, bedroom furniture, sofa and table. If you put in a TV then your sim can visit an NPC neighbour and watch TV with them.

I've been thinking about this a bit - if someone were to play any of my apt lots they'd visit their neighbors and be like "WTF? Empty?"... So I'm going to do what you and others have suggested by going back to these lots eventually and giving them the basics. I'm definitely not going to bother going all-out with decorations on NPC units. Only the units inhabited by playable Sims units should be that detailed.
