This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage
Default Super Collection Not Recognizing Custom Content
I have poured through multiple old threads at this point and have come up short - the Sims 2 Super Collection (Mac OS 10.14.6) will not recognize custom content, and I wondering if anyone here can help.

I have the Sims 2: Super Collection.

I have a downloads folder under ~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/

I have unzipped .package mods downloaded from such fine website as ModTheSims2

I have Custom Content enabled in settings in Sims 2.

I have tried turning off all the settings, going into a lot, saving, quitting, relaunching, and re-enabling.

I have both the Body Shop snd the Package Installer. I have tried using the Package Installer - it says content has been installed but it does not show up in-game. I have tried deleting the downloads folder, making a custom sim in the body shop, exporting it as a package, and installing it with the package installer so that I can see the Downloads folder be recreated AND the BodyPack Sim show up as a file within it - and it does not show up in game. The Custom Content screen is entirely blank. The Sims 2 Super Collection is NOT reckognizing my custom content, and I feel like I've covered all the basics.

AM I missing something? Can anyone help?

Did you relaunch after enabling custom content?

Yep. Ten, fifteen times now at least.

For anyone else having this problem, my solution is to ignore what the PackageInstaller does. The Downloads foler should be placer here:

~/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2

AND NOT

~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

Didn't they offer the 64 bit version of package installer separately? So that it would go to the right file path when the 64 bit game is installed?

As for other cc, you will want to make sure nothing requires more than BV.

Where did you get that advice, @Cespinarve? My game data is in the /Containers/etc location and I am running the same system setup as you, and it’s working just fine. The /Application Support folder only contains 8 items while the /Containers folder has 25, including all of the cache files, data log files, in-game movie and music resources, and pets files. I have also modded the heck out of my camera files and the game is reading the copies in the /Containers location, not the /Application Setup one.

It isn't advice anyone gave me. It's what I finally tried in an attempt to make mods work... and it did? So... yeah. Don't have an explanation.

I think the location has changed over time. In the most current version of OSX, Sequoia, I am unable to get any CC at all to show up. I have done the triple enabling. I have either my Downloads folder or an alias of it at all 3 locations that have worked in the past, the most recent being in my Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/ folder it now creates. None of them work now.

Yes, I installed the CEP. Since not even bodyshop content shows up - I used a dress to test - it looks like the game is not seeing the Downloads folder at all. I am pretty distressed, as I switched to a MacBook just so that I could casually Sim in the living room, rather than upstairs at my desk.

I will be removing and reinstalling the game, but I have pretty much lost hope at this point.

Hi @rhiamom Did you try ~/Library/Containers/The Sims™ 2: Super Collection/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2? Which locations have not worked for you?

Yes, the location you specified works - I was just coming here to say that I found a location that works. I was not going into Library the second time. Glad I have it working now! ~/Library/Containers/The Sims™ 2: Super Collection/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2 is the right place. Again.

The Path for the Sims 2 on the Mac is sort of complicated, partly because the Mac has more than one Library and it is easy to try to set it up using the wrong path.

When you install the game it makes a folder named The Sims 2 in the correct path for you, so what you have to do is find that folder and then create a folder named Downloads inside The Sims 2 folder and then you put just .package files in that folder and then you set the settings in the game and then quit the game and restart and if you did everything correctly you will have whatever CC you have in your Downloads folder showing up properly.

Note if you need help installing the CEP, i have a guide on InSimenator dot org. That works for me. I usually know how to do whatever with the Sims 2 on a Mac, so feel free to ask me. Ehh Sim Sample is pretty good with most things as well lol

for info on changing the Mac Open File Limit check out my post here http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...html#msg1628939

Thanks, lordtyger. What was tripping me up was that the ~/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2 was not working, as it did on my previous Mac. (And forgetting to go into the Library a second time in the Containers path) But I did notice that the Downloads folder in the Application Support location was an alias/symlink to the main Downloads folder, the one at ~/Downloads which was never going to work well.

I too wrote a guide for installing the CEP, lol. Now I need to update the path. WHY does it keep changing?
