This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default [Legacy Edition] Can someone with BodyShop help me clean some extracted Sims?
I recently got Legacy after trying and failing for years to get older versions working on my computer. Fortunately for me, Legacy works great!! I extracted some Sims from my old save files using SimPE, but I don't want to add them to my new Legacy saves without completely scrubbing them of CC and character data with Body Shop... which Legacy doesn't have. Is anyone willing to take my package files, remove all the CC, and send back the cloned Sims?

It is a myth that there is leftover stuff in Sims cloned in SimPE. You can safely take them directly to CAS.

I want to eliminate all CC too. What are my options there?

Just uncheck the CC when you install them with Clean Installer.

OK, dumbest question of all time. Forgive me - I haven't installed Sims 2 CC i over a decade at this point and I'm currently at work, so I can't test it. You can use Clean Installer to install .package files??
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

The "package" files are installed by adding them to the downloads folder in your sims 2 documents folder. And the "sims2package" files are installed with the Clean Installer, which allows you to keep only the sim and not install the cc that comes with it. (In case you download custom sims or houses.)

Extracting a sim with SimPE only extracts its face, not the cc, so when you add the package file to the game it will not have the cc it had, just make sure to choose a new eye color, hair, skin and new clothes and everything will be fine.

Also, packaging a sim that's directly cloned from SimPE and not cloned first does not pull any CC. It only keeps references.

Pakaging a cloned sim pulls CC.

(one of the reasons cloning still is a good thing to do)

If you've used a CC hair, and don't include it with the sim, the sim will be bald and the hair isn't fixable in Bodyshop (that sim lose access to all hair). I think it's fixable in CAS. It's mainly an issue with hair, and there shouldn't be any similar issues with other missing CC (some previously removed CC can appear on the sim/template again if put into the game, though - probably just in Bodyshop and CAS.

@simmer22 But we still don't know what those references are, in my opinion they are the clothes that the sim wore in other states, like formal, swimwear... But I'm not sure if they have things that create corruption. If someone can clarify it. It's like when you create an adult sim, you make him a child with tricks and when he grows up he has the same clothes as when you created him as an adult, maybe they could be the same type of "references". That's why I agreed when @Sunrader said that this is just a myth. Because I think even without cloning it is safe to extract sims and use them in a new game. But if someone could confirm this it would be great.

The extracted SimPE sim does have some references, but it seems it's mostly related to their looks. There are a few differences, and the CC/CAS lists in the 3DIRs seem to be different (I'm comparing the same sim extracted with cloned). I'm guessing the setup is a bit different here and there, since the extracted/not-cloned sim doesn't pull CC when packaged in Bodyshop.

Personally, I prefer to clone them, as that's a sure way to know they're not bringing anything potentially buggy, and because I also like to package the sims with their CC, for future use (I've been hunting down old CC for some older sims I wanted to transfer over to my new game, and it's a pain, even though I know I have most/probably all of it somewhere).

I guess for sims full of cc I would recommend that once you are at CAS you make sure to change everything, including make up, full faces make up, and all the things, and hit the remove everything button in all sections. It is a way to "reset" the references to hidden cc that the sim may have previously without cloning in body shop. (I say this because at the moment legacy players can only extract without cloning. xD). In any case, I think that the sim resets when it is in CAS and it really is a new sim, even the personality usually changes to something random. So it is safe. Furthermore, references to clothing, makeup and hairstyles are usually not dangerous and I think are usually eliminated once they are no longer in your game.
