Sims can autonomously switch to the next song on a stereo.

Who knew? When the willow tree caught on fire, I expected the fire to spread all over the lawn but it left only a 4x4 of ashes and not even one tiny little scorch mark on the fencing. I already knew that fencing in a tree contains its falling leaves which is why I had done it, but I figured the fence would go up in flames too.

I don't think I have a mod affecting it, but my lightning struck trees never set off a garden wide blaze. They burn for a bit, then go out. I had one tree hit 4 times in one storm, poor tree. As soon as the rain put the fire out it got struck again.

Do walls even burn at all? I suspect a fence would not burn because then it would need rooms merged on the fly.

Fire on a tree goes out immediately because it is raining, except if you are unlucky and the rain ends just before the fire can go out. I think these fires are an unrealistic nuisance but they are what they are.

In my gardening mod I allow leaf piles to appear outside the room.

Don't you have the more dangerous fires mod?

But that was caused by a robot, not lightning.

I had a fire recently at the Greenman (plantman) house. Stuff attached to the front wall was on fire from lightning. Bunch of people from the street came to react. It is BS. If the wetness from the rain was enough to make a tree not flammable, it would not have caught fire in the first place. But instead, rain has the ability to instantly stop fire. I was told here that the lightning rod has no effect, so I stopped putting that up. But I've not investigated it myself.

Leaves on the ground almost always are a bit wet and smolder slowly with smoke, an not big flames like portrayed in the game. I completely disabled their ability to cause a fire. But the flames remain due to a lack of a better matching effect. The other option was to disable the Burn interaction.

I did for that game, yes- but- the fire was purely caused by the cleanbot clearing up the burned leaf piles (it malfunctioned and went berzerk, coughing up more piles of rubbish which all caught on fire as it was, itself, burning!). So same scenario could have happened without the fire mod. It was definitely more severe than an unmodded game though!

Tree was on fire from lightning, which ignited leaves beneath it, which caused the cleanbot to clean it up, which resulted in cleanbot combustion...

It needs to be on a flat roof or the ground:

If you wswitch to a Sim's inventory and use the hand to pick them up and delete them (with moveobjects), it crashes the game.

On the flat part of the roof (i.e. the top spine), or it only works on totally flat roofs?

Did the firetruck burn down to ashes? It happened once to me and firefighters awkwardly walk off the lot

After further experimentation and study of the code, I have found that the lightning rod works very well at attracting lightning, provided it is located on the ground or on a flat roof. It appears that when it is placed on a sloping roof, the game considers that it is located inside a building. Lightning is not permitted to strike objects located inside a building.

Yes it did- a second truck turned up and caught fire too, I didn't get pictures because I was too busy crying (kittens were orphaned)- one of the few times I quit without save!

If you use the cheat to change time while Sims are at an exam, it somehow causes them to miss the exam.

This is more of a rediscovery.

Since I bought Legacy I have tried and tried to play it. So since I couldn't play it I tried to load Body Shop,. I couldn't even do that. Today I figured out why. I had to go into Properties and set it to play like Windows XP.

A simple path between rooms is checked when calling Find Best Object (at least with some parameters). If the door's lead tile has door route blocker flags # 3 set, the door's function - portal test runs to check if the door is locked for me. When a connection between rooms is not found, that object is not returned. There can still be an unusable link because stuff on the roof, attic and porches is considered to be in the same room 0. It doesn't seem to cause a lot of CPU usage.

For example, lock yourself out of reaching a grill, and the grill menu on the fridge disappears.
