Default Is it possible to create a Sim without using Sims 2?
So, this thought has been floating in my mind for a while now. Sims are normally created by CAS, by in-game birth, by adoption, and also townies are created with just playing a lot in the Sims 2 (correct me if im wrong). But is it possible to create a full, complete, Sim with Simology without using Sims 2 at all? Like with the help of SimPE or any package editor?

You can also create them in Body Shop, yes, or at least you can create their appearance. If you want that appearance to be instanced in the game, you have to open the game and use CAS.

I said a full, complete sim. By full/complete sim, i mean a Sim that has Simology (eg: Aspiration, Personality, Interests, Chemistry). Is there a way to create a Sim, but without the use of The Sims 2????

No, because complete sims don't really exist outside of the Sims 2.

You wouldn't be able to do much with them outside of Sims 2 either.

A character coming out of the Body Shop is not fully formed. You can see it is about 150 KB, when with everything inside it is around 200-300 KB compressed. I would use functions from the game using a modded object where possible instead of trusting another author to reverse-engineer all the details for every resource type.

You can clone sims in SimPE and then change aspects of them (e.g. genetics, personality, name, skills) so I guess you wouldn't need the game installed for that. But you wouldn't be able to test them and know that they work OK. And some things you can't change in SimPE because the relevant model doesn't get updated, for example if you change a sim's age or gender in SimPE it doesn't correctly update the body mesh - so you will get a sim with a male body but female animations, voice and walk style for example and who can get pregnant from woohoo with males, or an adult who acts and talks like a toddler.

I don't think you could create one from scratch.

I'm not sure why you would want a Sim outside the game.

Unless of course you mean you want to bring the Sim to life, and have them live like ourselves in the real world. Maybe even have them move in and live with you?

That I can relate too -- there are Sims in my game that I'd love to get to know face to face. Maybe even share a hug and a kiss with them. Alas I fear bringing Sims to life is still quite beyond the reach of current human science and technology. Of course one day some super-AI-powered robot may work out how to do it -- we can but live in hope!

Maybe though I should bear in mind what my grandmother used to say to me: "You never really know somebody until you live with them." Maybe the Sim that you find adorable in your game would turn out to be insufferable, once you're actually sharing a house with them!

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

I don't need to try it to know that Sim Sample would be insufferable.
