Default Male "Sailor" outfits; bizarre 1980s patterns; striped "rugby" shirts; short shorts & high socks
In my endless quest for more things to cram into my downloads folder (and outfit my Hawkins teens), I present you with this handful of odd outfits. Photos are forthcoming shortly.

Sailor suits for adult/teen males: a weird concept to be sure, unless you're, you know, an actual sailor. They do exist, but only for female Sims... that I've found, anyway. Plenty of knockoff "Sailor Moon" costumes. But none for the dudes. Of course, Steve Harrington hates wearing his, but it's the human player who calls the shots in SimLand. So I'm looking for a guy's sailor suit (for a nautically-themed ice cream shop's uniform). Also - TS2 accessory sailor hats. I've seen 'em for Sims 3 & 4, but not 2.

Not sure what to call the weird print patterns that Stranger Things' Eleven adopted after being introduced to mall culture, except to say "very '80s". Like if Keith Haring had been a clothes designer. The type of clothing isn't too important... separate tops would probably work best. Large sleeves would be good. I know this sounds awfully vague, but maybe the photos will help: three different outfits from Stranger Things 3 - a yellow, a blue, and a multi. Not those patterns specifically, mind you - just stuff like that.

Striped rugby-style shirt tops for TM-EM: In all my school photos from the '80s, there's always a handful of kids in any given picture wearing big horizontal stripes. Occasionally diagonal, but those are velour (see cropping from my 4th-grade photo, January 1983) . Polo shirts & rugby shirts, mostly (and you can easily find a whole bunch of polo shirts on MTS). The long-sleeved model is proving more elusive. I've found some kiddie rugby shirts, but none for older sims, unless you're looking for a specific pro rugby team's uni (I'm not). The shot of Will Byers in tan with red & white stripes.

And speaking of that photo... shorts were short in the '80s. And I'm talking for all sexes. But socks were tall, and often striped at the top. The short shorts and tall socks combo is a particularly un-eye-pleasing look, IMO (and one unfortunately making a comeback amongst teens here in Chicago). Nonetheless, that's what I'm hoping for. If Charity's "stubbies" came with tall striped athletic socks, that's kind of what I'd want.

Okay, that's enough for now; I need to figure out why the screenshot upload is suddenly disabled again; bear with me.

Who knows? Chrome suddenly wouldn't let me upload pics, so I switched to Firefox, where I of course wasn't logged in, and entered an old password, and had to run around in circles for fifteen minutes to get my password reset. Grrr. Looks like I'll be using Firefox from now on.

I've got quite a few teenage boys' sailor suits in my game, and quite a few of my teens regularly wear them. I'm not sure where I got them all from now, but if you like I could share them with you privately. Some came from a Korean Sims site, but I can't remember which one. I have quite a lot of short shorts too, though some are just "painted on" to a nude mesh. For knee high socks/stockings I use the kilt hose, but I'm sure you could recolour those. In my game Alexei Romanov regularly wears a sailor suit with very short shorts, but with stockings that come well above the knee, so that only a little flesh is actually exposed. (There are pictures of the real life Alexei Romanov (the Tsarevich) wearing a sailor suit.)

It's now well past my bedtime, but I'll try to post some pictures when I wake up.

That all sounds good to me. Thanks, I'd love to take a look! Just "painted on" you say? Sounds a little frightening..

I think I know the ones you're talking about, but I can't remember the name of the site either. Tried to check in my Had a sudden hit of memory. XD Couldn't find them in my Downloads because I hated the shorts and pulled the shirts apart into separates (and they were therefore renamed), but I'm pretty sure that they're these. https://katsurinssims.tumblr.com/po...ly-finished-for

It seems that the sailor suits in my game are from two sources: deditalsheep and @Charity

deditalsheep is (AFAIK) a Korean Sims 2 creator, who also made some rather nice male hairs (i.e. ones that suit the 'gay pretty boy' style of my game!). I'm not sure if it's still possible to download from deditalsheep's site, but, if it is, it's the best place to get them. Charity made quite a lot of separate tops, most of them white with different coloured trim. Looking at them, I think she must have developed them from deditalsheep's full body textures. Or more likely the ones by Katsurin, that she links to in her post above. Katsurin says she developed hers from deditalsheep's. I can't find Charity's ones in her downloads, so I think s he must have shared them with me privately. I have 32 of her sailor suit tops -- 16 for adult males and 16 for teen males. As they are separates, you can pair them with any bottoms you choose. Anyway here are three Sims wearing sailor suits that I have in my game:

As for rugby jerseys, I think the nearest I can think of is if somebody could make the top of Maxis burglar outfit as a separate. It looks very like what I wore for rugby at school (aged 9-14). (My school colours were black and white!) It's was a long time ago that I wore it, and it was getting very tight by the time I was 14, as I didn't want to waste my parents' money buying a new one! The main difference though to what the Sims 2 burglar wears though was that I think my school rugby jersey had a collar with a couple of buttons like you'd find on a casual shirt -- a little bit like the one that boy at the front of your 4th picture is wearing.

I think deditalsheep also had sailor suits for younger boys (children), but I never downloaded them. But remember that Sims 2 children of both sexes are basically the same shape. (They use the same meshes.) So if you find an outfit made for a little girl that looks OK, you only have to make a tiny change in the outfit's Property Set to let little boys wear it too.

Sorry this took so long to write! Including finding, and sometimes taking, all the pictures. Charity, you might like to proof-read it and find all my mistakes.

Found my SimFileShare link from back in 2022 if you want the separate tops. http://www.simfileshare.net/download/3429169/

I have quite a few things I've made and either thought that not many people would be interested in them/couldn't be assed taking pictures/both. XD

Thanks for that. Found a few more pictures of the other two things...

"Stripes1": 4th grade again; my buddy Philip at center. A bit unusually colored example: beige and light blue, but the broad stripes with the white collar is the look. Like a polo shirt but with long sleeves I guess. That's my face peeking in BTW, at the bottom, in front of my two best friends Ezra and Jarvis.

"jj": Again at center, a fancier version of the stripe pattern: red and navy, but with an extra yellow pinstripe running through. JJ's dad owned a vintage speakeasy in Cicero, left over from the Capone days, and was always buying his kids cool clothes and taking them skiing.

"socks1" is my brother Daniel at a Chicago art festival: the classic striped gym socks of the day. The shorts are also what I remember most kids having: elastic waist, not necessarily tight, but fairly skimpy, and almost always with a white edge. Mostly we also used them for swimming trunks.

"socks2" is from my freshman year in high school; we're on vacation in WIsconsin. The tube sock was apparently invented in 1967, and the machine that made them could crank out a pair in a matter of seconds, but the inventor failed to get a patent, and so by the mid-seventies, they were literally everywhere, popularized by athletes: Björn Borg, Pelé, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (last screenshot, with stripey socks and those terrible short shorts with the white piping). Not to mention Farrah Fawcett, posing undercover as a roller derby player on Charlie's Angels. And because they were cheap, everyone bought them, and the three-striped, calf-length tube sock remained fairly ubiquitous through the '80s.

Well, I found a long sleeved polo shirt, but it's not striped. Still, it gives you a mesh to start with. https://modthesims.info/d/150339/gilligan-outfit.html

Striped, similar shirt. https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=101015

Might be a bit long, but they have the stripes at the bottom. https://lucilla-sims.tumblr.com/pos...-from-anon-full

You said you found rugby shirts for kids. Where were those?

There's a couple, anyway: Cat put up these separate CM tops, which include something called an "untucked polo"; looks to me like the right thing... comes in 2 colors (available in the comments).

And penguiny7 has these more prep-school-looking shirts, with a crest... But they're tucked in.

Actually, Cat's have pushed-up long sleeves, so I think they'd be perfect for teens, if they came in a large enough size.

I'll take a look at the ones you linked in a minute.

Gilligan's would be okay if it were striped and not just red. The Lucilla ones are more like soccer uniforms, and the others are more like a zippered cardigan or something. But I appreciate the suggestions.

Looking more closely at Cat's, the sleeves I think aren't exactly "pushed up"... but they give the right impression.
