Was trying to fulfill some wants for my sims when I accidentally clicked on my sim cat and wondered what her wants might be if EA had given pets wants.

Have you ever looked at their interests? My favorite is "scary things."

Cats should have a want to sleep on X surface, and sit on X surface. I know they don't have many options, but seems like cats try to sleep in as many places as possible. And the want should have two versions, regular and "sleep/sit in X that's bathed in sunlight" which gives more points.

Dogs should have wants for a certain Sim to enter the room, or be in the room. Wants with extra points to sleep in the same room as a Sim reading, or watching TV. A want to sleep in a bed belonging to their favorite Sim.

On a less theoretical level wants for things that already happen in game

Cat wants

I can see this being a cat's want and a dog's want or fear, like how Sims pull pranks on others and might get a positive or a negative reaction depending on level of friendship.

Cat scares dog off table.

Too bad neither animal can relax on a dining room table (unless cats can and I haven't witnessed it yet ).

I've seen counters for cats, but I've never seen them on a table.

A cats most important daily want/mission:

Successfully annoy the crap out of human. Get in their way. Make them trip. Destroy their stuff. Wave my butt in front of that square thing they stare at all day. Puke on the floor. Cook up a good stink in litterbox and then fling litter like confetti. Meow at night like a fruitcake. Jump on humans head.

At least, this is the checklist my cat sticks to religiously.

Not really wants or fears, but this made me think of other interactions I wish were included in the game for pets. I always thought it would be cool to have things like pests besides roaches, like rats, and one way to get rid of them would be having a cat, the more active the better. Or if the burglar came and you had a dog, it would bark and chase the burglar off, again the more aggressive the dog, the more likely/effective it would be.

In sims 3 they did have wants. I don't remember any of the cat/dog ones, but horses wanted to "lick salt" and "eat carrots" a lot.

In the Sims 3, I remember one of my sim's cats wanting to shred furniture. It made me wish that pets in TS2 had wants.
