This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Can't hire chef
My sim runs a restaurant business and has hired several employees. The restaurant has the cooktop that all restaurants need to function, and there is already a premade chef at it cooking for the restaurant. He has maxed cooking skill, but he keeps burning food or making the dish wrong, and almost everytime a customer is served, they lose a star or star points. The owner is able to assign his employees the jobs of server, host, tidy up, and restock items, but he is not able to assign them to be a cook, and I can't make the premade one go away. I eventually killed him, but another one just showed up in his place and I assume that one will do exactly the same thing (make bad food). How do I get the premade chef to go away so that I can make one of my employees chef instead?

Is the chef making the bad food, in red (the dot, I mean)? Is the chef and owner on good terms?

Do any of your employees have high enough cooking skills (and others, I'm not sure) to be a chef? Or hire another employee with the right set of skills & badges?

Take a look at your current Chef's skills and talent badges, maybe you can ask him to improve something? By inviting him over or move-in so you can control him for awhile? Maybe there's a mod/hack around if you want to cheat...

There's another possibility that you have clashing CC that interferes with something about the Chef or cooktop or OFB itself...?

An NPC chef should not be showing up on an owned restaurant lot. One possible explanation is that you have Simlogical's hacked Uni stove and used this stove on your lot instead of the commercial stove. You should use the Tempest Cooktop from Cuas. You can see a picture here, Have you ruled out a CC conflict by temporarily removing your Downloads folder and playing a test lot?

Default NPC chef attached to tempest stove OFB will not work correctly
I had the same issue, I had downloaded a recolor that had overwritten the original. I could not locate it AT all to delete it from the download folder.

While in the game troubleshooting I hovered the mouse over the stove in buy mode and the GUID popped up. I googled for help, I wrote it down and I downloaded SimPE and located guid and deleted it from download folder,

I am cooking now with no npc chef but my designated chef!!!!!!! It took 4 days to figure out.

To find an object in SimPE using its GUID, open the "Resource Browser" window, navigate to the desired package file, then use the "Find by GUID" function to search for the specific GUID, which will highlight the corresponding object in the browser.

Open SimPE: Launch the SimPE application.
Load Package File: Go to "File" > "Open" and select the package file containing the object you want to find.
Access Resource Browser: In the main window, navigate to the "Resource Browser" tab.
Find by GUID:

Default Because
I worked my arse off to resolve the problem

I shared how to possible resolve an issue within 2 threads relevant to the problem.

Do i need to start a new thread to do so?

@redmadnes Posting new and relevant information to old thread is fine, double posting just so say 'back up' is not. I would suggest deleting that one comment. Also posting the info once is enough, so I also suggest not finding and posting it to any more old threads. Once is good, twice not needed. I say suggest because I am not a moderator here any more.

11. No Double Posting: Use the edit button - if someone has not replied since you and you have something to add or change in your original post after you've hit reply, use edit.

12. Do Not Bump Threads/No Threadcromancy: Do not post to an old thread just to bump it up to the top of the forum if you have nothing new to add, or to get it more visible (especially if it's your thread!) Don't resurrect old threads unless your comments are relevant and would be seen as a important addition to a thread. Continuing on a conversation dropped months ago is not a good idea - check dates.

It's easy to make some mistakes if you're new.

The edit button is always useful.

You also don't need to do "reply to post" every time - this quotes the entire post you're replying to. It's useful if you want to highlight something in particular, but can get a bit tedious to scroll through if people quote a very long post just for adding a line or two at the end (you can edit out anything unnecessary from the quoted post, especially if it's long and you just want to answer a tiny bit of it). There's also a "quick reply" and "go advanced" option at the bottom if you just want to add a reply without quoting ("Go advanced" has more options for formatting, it's the same as editing/normal reply). Replying to a particular post sends the person a notification (in most cases), which perhaps isn't always necessary, either.

It's unlikely that the people who posted years ago still need help, so I'd make a new post.

When I googled the problem initially this thread came up top of the results. It was the only thing I found so I found it prudent just to add to it
It is for future people Not past that still could possibly run into the issue.
