Default Casino & Gambling Parts - Feasibility / Current Interest
Hullo folks.

I was working on my own Sims 3 world when it suddenly occurred to me that what I was missing was a few casinos in my highrise city. To my knowledge, nothing like casinos currently exist in the Sims 3 world (likely due to the gambling element), so I was wondering if:

1.) Would it be feasible to create WORKING casino parts and gameplay elements, and,

2.) Has anyone already begun work on this, or will I be inventing the wheel for the very first time?

My skillset has always been in programming; as a result, I have zero experience with meshing, modeling, animation, and texturing, and that means that a project like this would be a huge undertaking (and I would no doubt enjoy finding someone with these skills who would have interest in a project like this).

There was a large mod project dedicated to gambling/casino's on MTS for TS2.

It's one of those things that's important in a life simulator, but EA cannot be relied upon to implement it. I think the subject of gambling is more taboo in US than it is in UK, where it is seen as quite normal.

There are deco casino tables out there (I have them) but at the moment the closest we can get to a functioning casino is to have deco casino tables and use the 'role sim' object to make a sim stand behind them, like a croupier. It's good enough for me I suppose, but only because I accept it's probably the only way. But I agree the game needs more gambling, and less werewolves.

Can't find stuff in build and buy mode? http://www.nexusmods.com/thesims3/mods/1/?

Funnily enough, as you've probably discovered already, there's a hidden Gambling skill that comes with the Showtime expansion pack. Got no idea what it applies to though (if anything).

Haha.. really, now?

I haven't picked up the Showtime pack. I'm avoiding it because I don't want the headache of trying to get CAW to work, as it was bad enough when Pets came out. I'm leaving space in my world to explore Showtime content a bit later. I'll definitely see if I can find any information on the new hidden skill.

Some of the things I was considering as part of a total Gambling "pack" included a weekly, low-chance Lottery with a ticket vendor, working slot machines, and some card/game tables. To support it, I also wanted to do some new Goals and a Lifetime Wish or two.

If you go to the Sims 3 Store, there is a world called Lucky Palms which comes with Slot Machines and BlackJack Tables. The sims 3 store also includes a Roulette table and Poker table.
