Default UserStartup.cheat file is not loaded (SOLVED: problem was SetQuartertilePlacement cheat)
I launch The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection using the Sims 2 RPC launcher. My game CANNOT launch using the built-in launcher (I get a DirectX error). Sims 2 RPC works great, but I've run into one problem: it doesn't seem to load my UserStartup.cheat file. I've double checked my filetype and spelling in the file, to see if that's the source of the error, but unfortunately I don't seem to have made any mistakes there. I'll attach the file to this post just so I can double-check! (A note on the testing cheats: I have that in there right now as an attempt to be able to start the game in debug mode. I would typically keep the file without testing cheats, for regular gameplay, if I could get it to work at all.)

I'm wondering if anyone knows a method to force the game to read the UserStartup.cheat file, or a way to get the Sims 2 RPC launcher to be able to read it.

Computer specs:
Operating system: Windows 10
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
Graphics card: Intel(R) UHD Graphics
Driver version: 27.20.100.9664
DirectX version: 12 (FL 12.1)

Thank you in advance for any help! Let me know if there's anything about my situation i can clarify.

UPDATE: this problem has been solved. The launcher wasn't the problem. It's the setQuarterTilePlacemeant cheat that doesn't work properly. I solved it using this workaround: https://belladovah.tumblr.com/post/...le-placement-on

It might be a syntax error in your cheat file. The first line in my own (which works) is

boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true

Small t for testing and small t for true. As soon as the launcher reaches a line it can't read, it skips the lines after it as well, so if your first line contains an error, it will look as if the cheat file isn't launching.
N.B. I use the RPC launcher as well.

Thank you for your help! I've corrected the capitalization. Unfortunately, the file still doesn't work. I've attached an image of the new file, and it's location, in case I made another mistake somewhere that I can't see. Is there anything else I could try to get the file working? Should it be going in Program Files somewhere, rather than Documents?

It's in the right place. Can you upload the file itself, rather than a screenshot of it? That way people can see if it loads into their own game.
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

So it is the first cheat that is not working? Testing cheats are not enabled in game? Because the second cheat is incorrect for a userStartup, it should be boolProp quartertileplacementenabled true.

Thank you! I'm not able to upload the file to MTS: when I try, it gets rejected. However, I've solved the problem!

Thank you for your help! I didn't realize setQuarterTilePlacement specifically had problems! That was . . . the one I was using to test if the startup cheat was working (insert sweat emoji here) . . . The code you provided did not work for me, however, now that I know setQuarterTilePlacement doesn't work properly in the startup cheat, I did some research and found another workaround, which did work for me: https://belladovah.tumblr.com/post/...le-placement-on

Thank you all so much for your help! I'll mark this thread closed now!

The "boolProp QuarterTilePlacementEnabled true" cheat is the "always on" version, and it should work fine in the userStartup file, but you still have to toggle it on ingame with Ctrl+F. That's how the cheat works whether you write the whole cheat ingame, put it in as a startup cheat, or as an alias.
