Default Uninstall EP - any problems?
Hey,

just curious…
If I backup my Sims 2 Folder (the one in documents) and THEN install an EP, play a few hours and later uninstall that EP and put my backup back there in the documents folder, would that corrupt something?

From my understanding it shouldnt, since everything is the same as before then but I could be completely wrong.😂

Anybody knows about this?
Thanks.

No, restoring backups doesn't cause corruption as long as you do it correctly. I dunno why you would want to do that and lose all your progress, though.

You realize your play will be at the point you backed up at? None of the play you did with the new EP will be there if you uninstall it.

Maybe explain what you hope to achieve by doing this and we could help you find a better solution.

Maybe they want to test the EP and see if they like it?

Or maybe they want an item from it to get the mesh of?

I was a bit worried, because I read in FreeTime you get constant hobby wants and almost no others, but there‘s a mod for it, so that should fix that.

Thanks for your answers and happy new year

Wants roll based on what you have your sims do. If you direct them to do things other than hobby activities, they will roll plenty of wants that are unrelated to hobby activities.

so... It was a test to see how many hobby wants you got?

That would depend on how many hobby related things your sims do and how well balanced their lives are with other things. It would also depend on if they have a second aspiration or not and how much you fill other wants and your general play style. For example if you play with supernaturals things related to them will show up, if you run many OFB shops things related to them will show up vs if you never do these things. But if a sim is just going to work and is doing a lot of hobby activities in their spare time then yes I imagine they may gain too many.

My play involves quite a lot of hobby involvement so I am a good test subject. Yes, they do get a decent amount of hobby wants, but I don't find it''s "almost no others". And I have no mods to alter hobby wants. If you want less hobby related wants you can certainly get mods for that.

I give my sims more want slots, so teens I give 5 and adults 6 regardless of uni. So this may also be affecting the wants I get. I know yesterday my teen had a want to gain his bronze sales badge (I run a lot of OFB shops so this affects wants) make 2 friends (he is pop so his aspiration affects that ) and I forget the other two, maybe they were hobby related I can't remember. But I am not being overwhelmed with hobby wants.

If you are installing Freetime I would recommend looking at Tunaisafish's enthusiasm overhaul (at MATY) - this should prevent the hobbies getting built up unless it actually makes sense for the sim. There is some documentation which explains what it does.

I will also mention my interest overhaul, mainly because I hated what Freetime did to sim interests! But also because interests also affect hobby choice.

Check out my thoughts on Psymchology (Sim Psychology) - latest post is on the main six aspirations.

Thank you, I installed it and I will see how it works out.
FreeTime definitely adds some cool stuff like the lifetime aspiration bar and the benefits from it
Needs not sinking as fast as normally is really cool and will probably help a lot, especially in bigger families.
