Default Help Finding the Best Lifespan/Age Changer
Please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place; I'm still learning the forums.

I have seen several mods/hacks to change lifespan and/or tweak ages and was hoping you guys might have recommendations for which works best..? Ideally, with Legacy, but I understand if that's not been tested yet. Specifically, I want to be able to change lifespans across all neighrbourhoods and also tweak ages within age stages. I do have SimPE, if that helps.

Thanks for any help and recommendations.

The mods just change the global constants that are used to initialize sims when they grow up. If you just want to change sims' days left individually, just use SimPE. You can also do some adjustments with the Sim Blender.

Thanks for responding.

There are certain Sims whose specific age I would like to tweak, but I also want to change the lifespans for everyone. Thank you for letting me know I can do the former in SimPE; I'm not familiar with the programme.

If you want to modify default age durations for everyone, just pick any age duration mod and change the values to the ones you want.

So they all work the same then - no one better than the other? Has anyone tested any of them with Legacy?

Thanks for your help.

What "works best" will be different for everyone and their playstyle, that's why we can't really recommend a specific mod without knowing what you'd like more precisely. Some mods will make your Sims life very long, others will be closer to the default lifespan with a few tweaks, it really depends.

Recently Lazuduchess made this lifespan mod generator, you can enter the values you want and generate a mod tailored to your tastes!

What is better is whatever you happen to want. Some people want quite short lives, some like AlmighytHat's are very long and some are in-between.
I use the one from simlogical that I set to my own system which is 1 day = 6 months.

AGE GROUP TWEAK https://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Aging.htm

I also like to use individual ageing where I can turn any sims ageing off, for example before a birthday party. I won't have sims randomly ageing up before they blow out candles. https://modthesims.info/d/160414/in...2006-lt-lt.html

I have not used Legacy but I would assume they work in that just fine.

They all work the same way. It doesn't matter which one you modify.

My personal favourite aging mod is the one by BoilingOil. His mods are on LeeFish.nl

Thanks, everyone! This is great. Sorry I didn't specify I wanted to increase lifespans. The LazyDuchess mod sounds ideal, thanks Monsieur.

For those of us who want total control over when and whether their Sims age up, this old mod is still a good choice: ( https://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Aging.htm ) ijNoDaysleftDecrease.zip "This patch replaces the BHAV that decreases your Sim's days left in age stage.

This is not the same as the ageing-off cheat, because the ageing-off cheat stops you ageing your sims up at all, whereas this patch leaves you able to age them by any of the available means, they just won't get older automatically. Also does not affect the course of pregnancy and childbirth."

Unfortunately, LazyDuchess's mod didn't work for me. I plugged in my numbers and saved the resulting package file to the Downloads folder, but nothing changed in game. It is enabled in-game, and the two others I have are working. I wonder if I missed a step..?

I don't know this mod ^ But most ageing mods don't 'kick in' until a sims ages up.

There is "Smart Age Correct" by Chris Hatch, this runs after you have played a family for a few minutes and you will get a pop up saying ages in your hood have been amended. I don't find that the age of every sim gets amended correctly but that they are closer to what they should be. LD tweaked it here:

Yes, the mods are just overrides of the constants table that's used when the sim ages up. Like I said previously, if you want to change specific sims' ages, you have to edit the neighborhood. A mod isn't going to change the data that's actually in your save.

This is the system I made and use: https://s2idownloads.blogspot.com/2...es-1-month.html

But I have some others on my blog as well.
There's also an old tutorial how to tweak a lifespan. The link to the template is gone (will be updated), but the tutorial itself is still correct.

I use iCad's version of Almighty Hat's aging mod. I like a long lifespan, it lets me get to know my sims and have them enjoy all stages of their lives. But it's not for everyone. I had to check out a few different lifespan mods before I found one that was right for me.

Just to confirm, there is no lifespan change mod that will change the lifespan of the Sims current life stage? It will only kick in upon aging? Thanks for all the input, guys.

Yes, mods generally only change how the game works, if you want to change the data of your save, you have to actually edit the save. It's just like any other game, really.

You could install whatever mod that modifies the Sim's life span in the way that you want, and then you could use The Sim Blender to reset the aging on each Sim individually. It is a lot of work if you have a lot of Sims, but I think it would do what you want. There is no way that I know to reset all of the Sims in bulk.

Thanks for the response, but the issue was solved using the Smart Age Correct mod linked above - it checks for a lifespan mod and updates everyone, it's great.

I really do not like Smart Age Correct and personally don't recommend it to people because it changes the ages of all of your sims to a random value instead of letting you decide what you want it to be. In general, if you want your neighborhood to be set up a specific way, I would recommend setting it up that way in SimPE. If you want all your sims to have completely randomly determined ages, you can go with Smart Age Correct. It's sort of OK for setting up townie ages, but you first have to modify it so that it doesn't mess up your playable sims.

I agree it isn't perfect for all scenarios, but so far it's been the only way to change the lifespans of premades, which is what I wanted.

It's not the only way to change sims' lifespans, though. You can literally just edit them in SimPE and set their age and age stage length to whatever you want it to be.
