Default Creating *default* townies ?
Hello, I hope this hasn't been asked too many times --

I'm putting a foot on the more complex stuff for the first time, and I've been looking at how to make custom townies. But, I was wondering, is there a way to make default townies, as in, the same townies that would spawn in new created neighborhoods, just like the Pleasantview townies do ? I like playing with aliens Sims, with custom skintones, and it sounds like a difficult step to recreate some each time I launch a new neighborhood, if that makes sense.

I downloaded and installed clean neighborhoods. Is the logical step for this just... Making townies in Pleasantview? And then they would appear in all other neighborhoods ?

Sorry if this is a recurring or stupid question, I just don't want to mess up my game if I can avoid it. Thank you in advance !

My understanding is that this is how you would do that:
  1. Install a completely empty Pleasantview template.
  2. Install the empty templates for all of the stealth hoods.
  3. Install all of the no-respawn mods, to prevent any townies from generating.
  4. Load your empty Pleasantview.
  5. Create your custom townies in CAS.
  6. Move the custom townies into a lot, and use a teleporter mod to make them all into townies.
  7. Bulldoze all of the lots (to prevent any mods from hitching a ride on them).

The Pleasantview you created and populated with townies should now be able to serve as a custom template that you can use the same way you would use a clean or empty Pleasantview template, and its population of townies will be used when you create new custom neighborhoods, if you have it installed. If you want the original Pleasantview back, though, you'll have to copy it manually into your Neighborhoods folder, so it might be a good idea to keep a copy of it around.

Looking pretty good, aside from the stealth hood empty templates (bolded above). You may instead want to back them up, then completely remove them from the game files; this is mainly relevant if you want to make a subhood version, as neighborhoods with attached subhoods can't be made into subhoods. This isn't strictly necessary for a simple townie replacement, but still worth keeping in mind (and besides, it's less work for the game to do).
