Needing help with The Sims 2 on Windows 11

I feel like I have tried everything I know and need the true gamerdevs help. I have my The Sims 2 from oldgamesdownload so my files are in
Documents / Ea Games / The Sims 2
And
My computer / Windows C / Mr Dj / The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection

I have already fixed graphics, language (I play in Finnish) and have the 4GB patch etc. Still, after playing for a bit I get “The Application has CRASHED. It will now terminate” for no apparent reason. Well. mine is in Finnish but im pretty sure thats the translation error code (Virhe sovelluksessa, sovellus suljetaan). (I dont have the pink flashes atm but I have had them on my last computer so i know what they are.)

What I have done:
-Language from reg editor

-I have downloaded the 4GB patch and moved the file from TSBin to CSBin and it shows this on my log:

Also, I have manually put in my screen info, so the game regognizes it.
I have NVIDIA GeForce Gtx 1660 SUPER and for that I have
Added it to Video Cards.sgr in NVIDIA between riva and end like this:

I have done this to VideoCards in TheSims2 files and Mansion files (Congig and CSConfic so 4 times)

Because the game I open and play with (latest addittions) is Mansion, I have done my edits on base game and Mansion.

I want to run my Graphigs as 1360x768 because I feel that thats the best option, so did these to the Graphics Rules.sgr
Changed the 1,2,3 to 3,3,3 in the beginning

Changed the texture to this:

I have deleted cache's in the Documents side, changed my Nvidia card to be the default card and make it run The Sims 2 in High quality and probably more but can’t remember now. It still won’t run. I feel like I figured out this part the last time I did this after like 6 hours of work, now im only down to 4 hours so the solution is somewhere in there, and Im sure it works on Win 11 the same it did on Win 10.
My game opens (screen goes to old reso twice and then the game opens up (i had this on win10 as well for years) and I might be able to play for 2-15 minutes or something like that, and then error code.
I never download anything, I dont use boolprops, my bodyshop stuff is in the game and all is well. I feel like maybe the problem is somehow in that last part, because thre are couple of places where it mentions the 32MB, so should I change every 32MB text to 4096 ? I didnt find anything on this from the forums. I even had my processor running on another screen while I played and only peaked when crash came, other than that computer was very "relaxed".

Did you delete the cache files? I do use MR DJ on Windows but I'm on 10 not 11, but hopefully someone who is will come along to help.

Your other option is to try Linux and there is more help on a few Discords for that. You could also get and try another version of sims 2 on there.

Nvidia cards seem to need the "boolProp disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment true" line to avoid pink-flashing and crashing. It's already mentioned twice by default in the GraphicRules file, but as exceptions (I think?)

Those help (especially Nvidia cards) for memory use and pink-flashing, but also for random crashes. My game almost immediately stopped misbehaving after fixing this (after I'd done pretty much everything else I could think of as well, that is - it's not a fix-all on its own, but absolutely can do the trick if it's missing).

Some people have had success with using the Legacy GraphicRules file, with the "boolProp disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment true" line added in. It has some changed settings that makes it a bit more friendly towards newer cards.

Okay not the Drivers where mad as hell (second pic) so couldnt even get it to open, most likely there is a typo or a corrupt file somewhere, so im just gonna uninstall and then bring back my gamefiles and do all the graphics etc all over again. And gonna try what you suggested!

Okay I deletet the whole thing and started again. This time went with 4gb patch and then graphics rules maker, changed resolution and bought my old saves back. Worked well for like 10 hours, and now twice crashed. After multiple hours of gaming pink flash and the same "error in software" and second time just froze up had to force pc to shut down. I wonder if rpc launcher would do the trick?

And the graphic rules maker added the ndivia so that shouldnt need more lines right?

Pink flashing means you're out of texture memory, which is very hard to prevent on newer machines, because of the different way they handle textures from what the game expects. There are ways to reduce it, but it seems to hit everyone at some point. The more items the game is rendering, the more often you'll get pink flashing, so it's hard to take advantage of all the intensely pretty new CC and graphic effects mods.

Deleting your cache files will need to be done periodically regardless. When the game refuses to launch, delete your groups.cache and it'll boot right up. If you've used Bodyshop, there'll be some extra files that also interfere with launching when you switch back to the game: Content Registry and something else, I forget. Just remember to delete those after you use bodyshop and you'll have no problem.

You're not playing to 10 hours straight, are you? Give your machine a rest and shut the game down between sessions. You wouldn't leave your car running for ten hours and expect it to not run out of gas or overheat, would you?

You might get lucky and the RPC launcher might work for you. On my laptop, it works fine with the graphics settings, allowing me to play the game smoothly. It's the complete opposite on my desktop computer, where I can only use the game to take screenshots because it's constantly flickering and freezing.

I don't agree with you here, I'm sorry Peni; a computer should be able to run a game for 10 hours or more. And giving a computer a 'rest' doesn't actually do anything. A car's gas is akin to the computer's power supply and, unless you have a coin meter or generator for your electricity, doesn't really fit here.

The only reasons I can see to have issues with playing a game for an extended time are:
Overheating- this is an issue with the hardware (cooling) and not with the game. Replace your Thermal Interface Material and upgrade your system cooling.
Cache/ memory bottleneck/ overload- Just reboot the game and all should work again.

Computer getting tired is a thing. I get crashes if I haven't saved for too long. Leaving games running and coming back to them can also result in huge lag. A restart of the game fixes it.

Yes that's the cache thing I mentioned.

Was the error an ingame error or a computer error? If it's an ingame error, can you attach the error log? If it's a computer error and it shows up again, can you try taking a screeshot?

I've had my game running for 2-3 days straight without saving (on my old stationary - mostly due to long loading times and wanting to start where I left off). I don't recommend doing this, of course. I would sometimes run into pink-flashing at the end of day 2 (or 3), usually because I visited the heavier lots last (because I knew the risk of crashing/pink-flashing was higher), or because the game memory was overloaded.
Rebooting the game should work, though if it has run for a while it's better to give the computer a rest.

If you use CC and mods, there's a chance some of the crashing or pink-flashing could come from something that's graphic-heavy or broken - too much CC, too graphic-heavy CC (big or many textures, RAW textures, high-poly), too CC-heavy lots, incompatible mods, broken CC (even clothes can cause crashes), plus ingame operations that often also cause lag such as access points for CC ingame (Change Appearance, build/buy loading) and effect-heavy scenes (skin overlays being applied, etc.).

If your computer is constantly running memory- and CPU-intensive programs, it'll be constantly working harder, constantly getting hotter, constantly having to run its fans to cool itself down, etc., and all of those moving parts will wear out faster. There isn't any machine in existence that that is not true for.

Literally what did you think Peni meant by saying that the computer should not be running the game for ten hours, if it was not that overusing the system would cause the hardware to fail faster? No one should be gaming for ten hours straight anyway, it's bad for the biological hardware in your actual human body.
