That just got to me somehow. I suppose I find it hard to believe that Angela is a fundamentally bad person, so it sounds like something has gone badly wrong in her life. When I read that she was crying, I cried with her. I'm sure she's wondering where she went wrong too. I really only know the Peanuts characters through the newspaper comic strip, and didn't know about Linus at all. Nor about Charlie Brown's Christmas. So to really follow your post, I had to do a bit of internet searching. This Wikipedia article was very helpful. I now know the story behind this Charlie Brown Christmas tree by Keoni that I've had in my game almost from the beginning.
This picture was taken on Christmas Day in 2020 just about a month after Andrew and Julian's wedding. They had been invited to spend the day with the Jeffreys family in downtown Veronaville. (They were mainly invited so that Andrew could roast the family's Christmas turkey -- he's one of the few Sims in Veronaville with the cooking skill to do it.) They look as puzzled by that little tree as I was. Well, now that I know the backstory behind it, I can tell them. Thanks to your post and that Wikipedia article. I get the impression that the Charlie Brown Christmas film and the Linus and Lucy jazz theme are much better known in the U.S. than they are in Scotland (or in Veronaville for that matter!).
I do feel sorry for Angela sitting in that prison 'bus remembering childhood Christmases. So I thought I might try to send one of those trees to brighten up life a little for herself and the other inmates of the Hillsborough Girls Academy. It appears to be 3to2 conversion by keoni of an Original TS3 object by Gelidabuilds@tumblr, but I don't seem be to be able to find the download, though it's probably somewhere on keoni's simblr. It appears that I downloaded my copy back on Christmas Eve 2013. So I'm taking the liberty of sharing it on my Sim File Share here: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/5917257/. It costs 15 Simoleons, and I'm hoping that the budget of the Hillsborough Girls Academy runs to that as I can't think of a way to send them the money. Even the worst Sims need a little bit of brightness in their lives.
What has Angela done to deserve this? I do hope it's not one of those "With no possibility of parole" sentences.

She's not, one might even say that she got screwed. She got in trouble along with her then-boyfriend Dustin. I know I've mentioned her story before, but.I will again (a short version, short as I can anyway)
So my game is full of crossover, from other works of fiction and even real life (and things inspired by real life). Angiee was a cheerleader at Port Simasota High School (based on Port Charlotte High School), merely 13 years old and a freshman, skipped a grade because she was smart and tried really hard to impress her parents, who paid little attention to her accomplishments at all, only recognizing her when she did something wrong. Being enemies with Lily was a recent thing: up until she was in eighth grade (and Lily was in seventh) they were inseparable best friends, and Angiee actually had defended her sister against their abusive father more than once, even taking the blame for breaking a window at school which Lily actually did by accident messing around (I'm visualizing old Punta Gorda Middle School, in the game known as Oldtown Middle School). She was very clingy to a young cheer coach, Amber, who was her coach for the Peace River Warriors (based on Charlotte Warriors) in Pop Warner and was now her coach in high school. Amber was still a student at Pensacola Christian College and an intern at Sim City Christian Academy (the private school) when she first met Angela; Angela was in seventh grade then and went to public school, Amber only knew her through cheer. She was already married to a Navy SEAL she had met in Pensacola (who was now serving at Naval Station Port Simasota).
Well, she was dating Dustin Broke, and he wasn't a fundamentally bad person either, but he took it hard when his father passed away, and he thought he found comfort in joining a gang, the 941 Families (reference to GTA). They were involved in organized retail theft, having stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from almost every retailer in the State of SimNation, and he was a low-level "street hawker" in the operation, though sometimes he would actually participate in theft himself. They had a scam going: have someone (often a member's girlfriend) go into a store and steal a cheap item and deliberately get caught to distract security. Well Nookington's (from Animal Crossing) was onto this scam. One day in early October 2004 the JV team at Port Simasota High School was playing Central High School (Sarasota High School), and the young, naive cheerleader snuck out with Dustin during half time and they went to Nookington's in downtown. Angela did what she was told to do, out of love. Was an excuse? No, she deserved to be prosecuted for it. What she didn't deserve was the wrath of a Nook's Asset Protection guard who had deep hatred for girls and young women after being dumped by his fiance while serving in the Vietnam War, Dean Worthington was his name, and he didn't even try to hide that he was a misogynist. He served on the police force but was fired for excessive use of force (later to be fired from Nookington's as well, long after what happened to Angiee in 2004).
Dean stopped her, but he recognized Dustin from a bulletin, and he knew what was coming, so he told her to just stay there. For obvious reasons, anxiety built in the young teen girl, standing there in her red and black cheerleader uniform. She keeps telling him she is sorry but he tells her, in a not so nice way, to "shut up" and just stand there. Dustin comes pushing a cart full of electronics, clothing, and other expensive items, and Dean violently grabs onto it and says "I've had enough of you and your shenanigans Blondie!" Dustin starts to run and Dean grabs onto Angela, and makes very unprofessional threats to physically hurt Angiee (I'm deliberately trying to keep it PG and not graphic) if Dustin does not stop, mocking him saying "some boyfriend you are to leave your little red headed girlfriend behind." Legitimately terrified, Angiee managed to grab a pencil out of Dean's shirt pocket and stab him with it, not even causing any injury to him, but causing him to draw his service weapon (they are armed) and attempt to neutralize Angiee, only for his weapon to jam so he hit her with it, causing her to go unconscious with permanent brain damage that she'll live with for the rest of her life. It prompted a ridiculous police response to an armed robbery in progress call. Of course Dean claimed the camera facing the door wasn't working (a lie but it was believed). Shoppers just continued to stream past, some not caring at all, some staring, some complaining about inconvenience, but no one even pretending to care about Angiee.
She was taken to Sim City General Hospital (Sarasota Memorial Hospital) where he injuries were missed; doctors wanted to transfer her to All Children's Hospital but that was denied. No one could get in touch with Daniel and Mary-Sue, the phone rang off the hook at the residence and no one answered. DCF took responsibility for her treatment; she was admitted over night onto an adult floor with the sheriff's department guarding her, shackled to the bed. The gang's multi-jurisdictional activity was under investigation by the SimNation Department of Law Enforcement (based on the FDLE), so the agent working the case came and talked to her at the hospital on discharge. He "took her into custody" (they don't use the term arrest for juveniles) and drove her to the Mid-County Juvenile Assessment Center (JACS) located at the jail in Downtown (based on the Sarasota County Jail). They took her mugshot (in cheer uniform), finger printed her, and put her in a cell. Angiee cried. And cried. And tried to call home, for Lilith to miraculously pick up and accept her call:
"GlobalTelLink This is a collect call from... Angela Pleasant... an inmate at the Simasota County Jail"
Angiee plead for Lilith to bring their mom to the line, but Lilith thought it was a prank and hung up on her (a choice Lily remembers and regrets well into adult hood), leaving poor Angiee to feel completely abandoned and uncared about. She wanted to call her cheer coach but was told she could only call parents.
Meanwhile back home, the Pleasants were still fighting after Mary-Sue, now fired from her job, caught Daniel having an affair with Kaylynn (who had no idea what kind of monster Daniel was). Daniel was forever raw over the death of his parents in a tragic car accident, when they were driving to Disney World with the twins, who were preschool aged, and slammed into the back of a school bus in Wauchula. It happened because the girls were fighting over a toy, Jeff (who was an astronaut, hoping to go to Mars) looked back, and WHAM! So Daniel forever blamed Lilith for that, which is why Lilith always got the short end of the stick. Daniel was a bully to Lilith, and engaged in the worst form of child abuse (think Epstein). The only one who ever really caught onto him was Angela's cheer coach, but she had no evidence, and no one was listening to a young lady like her vs. a famous coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That changed when SDLE went to their house, bringing DCF along due to their non-responsiveness for hours. As they approached the door, the agent heard yelling, glass breaking, and crying, and the decision was made no knocks would be happening. 3... 2... 1... BANG! "STATE POLICE, EVERYONE ON THE DECK!" The evidence of physical abuse against Lilith was undeniable, and after some soft probing, she broke down and told them everything.
Both parents went to jail immediately, Lilith went to C.A.R.E., Angiee went to Belladonna Regional Juvenile Detention Center (Manatee Regional Juvenile Detention Center) for 30 days (escaping adult charges only because of her age; the State Attorney's Office threw the book at her at Tom Nook's Shops' urging), and the girls were wards of the state. Angela took the news hard, she bit the social worker out of nervousness, which got her blue DJJ scrubs swapped for white ones, and several days in a confinement cell. What Angiee did at the store was wrong, but this level of treatment for a girl who was an A+, had never been in trouble before, and had been subjected to emotional abuse? It's deliberately meant to be debatable. Lilith wanted nothing to do with her sister, and C.A.R.E. respected that, until she saw her sister all over the news. WINK News, ABC-7, NBC-2, Fox 4, Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, RT, Sky News Australia... they're all covering her and making her out to be a monster. Finally Lily lands on the Disney Channel, playing Bear in the Big Blue House. She has a flashback, the two of them giggling and swinging at Woodland Park as little girls, the day Daniel caught her sneaking out with Angela and the boy who was in town for the summer with grandma and grandpa to go to church with them with Daniel being abusive and Angiee saying "why do you have to be mean to my sissy? I like my sissy! She didn't do anything wrong!", the time she found out Angiee took the fall for the window... She starts sobbing. "They're... they're... THEY'RE TREATING HER LIKE GARBAGE! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THAT!" Later a social worker talks to Lily, and she begs to reverse the request for protection from her sister, asking to communicate with her. The social worker had come with great news for Lilith, saying there was someone who knew her and Angela who really wanted to become foster parents so they could take them in, so they wouldn't just become numbers in the system, and that their names were Kane and Amber Morgan, who lived on the base with Amber being a young teacher at Charlotte Elementary School and a cheer coach for Port Simasota High School. The social worker asked Lily what she thought of that, and Lily said "Really? They want to foster us? Yes, I like it! I mean, they seemed nice anyway, Angiee thought very highly of them. My dad said Amber was a bad influence, but who cares what he thinks?" The social worker smiled, and said "I'll work on the paper work then."
Kane and Amber ended up adopting the girls (and later the Summerdreams' kids in another incident), Daniel and Mary-Sue both went to prison, Angela spent 18 months in Hillsborough Girls Academy, labeled as "dangerous" and maximum risk (which the state of Florida says "placement at this level is prompted by a demonstrated need to protect the public"), and while the Morgans were more like Brandi Broke than the Pleasants in terms of money, they were actually loved. The family were members of Tri-City Baptist Church along with the Goths, the Brokes, the Smyths, and the Burbs (the Pleasants were in the days of Jeff and Diane, but Daniel split off and became an atheist because God was one more thing he was angry with after his parents' death). Lilith changed her name to Lily and became the good twin and a cheerleader who credits her sister for everything she knows about cheer because when they were kids they would practice together (even though Daniel would have NEVER allowed Lilith to join the team like Angela), while Angela became the problem child with a juvenile record and a traumatic brain injury (which was discovered by the naval hospital and she slowly learned to cope with). The twins became inseparable again. They spent a little time in Naples, Italy when Kane was PCS'ed ("permanent" change of station), before the girls ended up getting sent to Simasota Military Academy (like military school in The Sims 1) because of behavioral issues due to Angela getting picked on (and her sister defending her). Lily joined Stingray Beach All Star Cheer (SBAC, based on Southwest Allstar Cheer known as SWAC), and because SMA students can participate in sports at other schools, so Lily ended up becoming varsity cheer captain at Port Simasota High (where her sister was a cheerleader her freshman year), and she pushed her self to excel just like her sister, but for different reasons: her reason was to carry on her sister's legacy. With Lily as captain, the Pirates brought home the Top Banana at UCA camp, then later scored first place in the SNHSAA state championship, earning Lily and her team mates a championship ring (which Lily continues to wear as an adult), then went to nationals where they scored high. When SBAC members joined Spirit of America in the Nook's Thanksgiving Day Parade (based on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade), Lily insisted on her sister being able to come as well, and while Angiee's stunting days were over, she wore the uniform and joined her sister in the parade in Capital City, bringing her service dog Gracie along. Lily always praises God, her sister, and her adoptive mother whenever she is praised for her performance, stating that her sister is the best blessing God ever gave her. Angiee continued to be picked on at SMA, but she reconnected with the boy from childhood, Cody Smyth, whose mother was also military. Cody became her boyfriend, and later would be her husband; while everyone else saw a broken girl, he saw his kindergarten friend.
The girls graduated and went to their adoptive mother's alma mater, Pensacola Christian College, a very strict Independent Baptist institution. Finally Angela made some friends, including Mandy Wiles from the game Bully (aka Canis Canem Edit), who didn't really fit in there at first but followed a boy to PCC (who broke up with her). Cody (who went to nearby University of West SimNation on an ROTC scholarship) proposed to Angela at the base of the bell tower at PCC, and Dirk did the same with Lily. Lily was a member of the Blue Crew squad just like Amber. When they graduated, Lily went into the Navy, served on the USS Carney as an ensign for a year, and later was promoted to intelligence, landing her a position at the Pentagon in Capital City. Angiee followed her husband to Japan (far east in the game) where they had their first child, then he was promoted and he was selected to be part of a team winding down operations at Naval Station Port Simasota (which was closing). Angela, an artist, bought the long-since abandoned boutique next to Winn-Dixie in Pleasantview (which in 2014 was nicknamed Unpleasantview due to severe blight after hurricane damage and effects of the Great Recession; visualize grafitti all over the buildings, many of the old houses destroyed, government-issue projects replacing the trailers by where the Brokes lived, the only nice things being the brand new Winn-Dixie replacing the old Winn-Dixie and abandoned Gamestop and the brand new Oldtown Middle School replacing Abandoned School which was mostly destroyed by Hurricane Charley and is now owned by the Siminole Tribe as it is on what is now their land, thanks to legalized gambling from Sim City). Cody and Angela moved into the Goths' former home, which was damaged by the hurricane and then vandalized heavily.
So, as to whether Angela is fundamentally bad? With her TBI, her personality changed. Her nice points are completely maxed out, and her outgoing and neat points were initially zeroed out (she got a couple back though, through learning to cope). Her playful points are also zeroed out, while her active points are at five. Initially she would have violent spells, but after she got "saved" (a religious thing) and learned coping skills, the violence aspect went away and now she just has crying spells. If someone is the slightest bit mean to her, she starts crying uncontrollably (which usually makes people who know her very mad; people get defensive of Angiee). Some are afraid of her if they know her past, but anyone that knows her considers her the nicest and most loving person in Simasota County (which encompasses real life historic Manatee County, which included Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, and part of Lee counties). The type who would do almost anything for anyone and doesn't hold grudges. The type that wasn't going to press charges on a young lady named Alyssa who pushed her down fleeing the authorities while she was pregnant with her second child, because she forgave the teen. The type who forgave their biological parents and visited both of them in prison, even though the Morgans are Mom and Dad to her now. It's intentionally left debatable to what extent she deserved what happened to her (personally I see her getting a raw deal), but she's my favorite of my Sims.
