Default story progression off-screen birth crash. please help me read the log
hello, i have story progressions installed, and there's this thing when someone gives birth off screen, the game would freeze for a couple of second, and it would go back to normal again

this time, it would just crash my game. i have tried to remove the entire subfolders inside the downloads folder and just leaving the story progressions' folder in, but the error persists. i wasn't like this usually, and i haven't added any new cc / mod file in a good while.

The crash exceptions don't actually give any useful information, because we don't have the source code. If it crashes every time, chances are good that it would also crash if the sim gave birth on the lot. So you can find the sim that's causing the crash that way.

oohh sorry i didn't know. i thought the crash log could give an idea what's causing it.

yeah seems like the only way is to check every household. thanks for the respond, Kestrellyn

@HanaHana543 have you tried playing with testing cheats on? Maybe then you'll get an error pop up or an error log that will tell you the sim and give a clue about what's causing the error.

The game crashing is a completely different thing than getting an error log. If the game could catch the problem and just generate an error log, it wouldn't crash.

@kestrellyn so the game wouldn't generate an error log before crashing? I thought I've done that before.

I guess if not, the next thing to do is to backup and do a 50/50, but with Story Progression installed, to see if the error persists when some downloads are removed.

Generally the point of catching the problem and generating the error log is to prevent the game from crashing when that happens, and if the game crashed, that means that system didn't work. If the game doesn't survive the problem it encountered, it's not going to be able to write an error log about it after it crashed. Probably the only time you would get an error log followed by a crash is if writing the error log itself somehow caused the crash.

Yeah, I've had error logs before crashing too. Depends on whether it tries a few things before crashing or not.

Interestingly, I've had error logs prevent crashing lol. Had a lot that crashed on opening. Tried turning testing cheats on in the hope of getting something before the crash and it popped up an error message instead and I could delete the crash causer and keep playing.
