Default Pesky vampires need to begone, begone, begone
I suppose technically this is a sort of help question/post, but to me it feels gameplay related. Those of you with downtown subhoods, have you figured out a way to stop vampires from spoiling your non-fantastical party? I've tried a whole bunch of methods that are supposed to work, and so far none of them do.

1. Banning with Visitor Controller - No luck.
2. Using Episims' visitor controller with the block object to the vampires - No luck.
3. Incorporating the code from Chris Hatch's no vampire mod into the visitor controller - No luck.

These vampires refuse to stay hidden and I would prefer them to go lurk the dungeons in a game that suits them and not be background party pooper in my highly contemporary game without supernaturals xD

If anyone has solved this problem, I'd love to hear how you did it.

Not sure if you're talking about Grand Vampires (no clue how to get rid of them) or just background vamps, but at least for "normal" Sims who've been turned into vampires and you don't want them to be, way back when, I kind of leaned into the urban fantasy aspect in one specific case, while still actively trying to get rid of them... I actually had a seldom-played household that was literal 'vampire hunters'- a good witch to brew Vampirocillin-D, and a successful business owner to have the "know everybody" perk so I'd be able to get in contact with the unwanted vampire, eventually inviting them over and influencing them to cure themselves.

Not exactly a mod or coding solution I'm afraid, but it did at least give me a way of getting rid of them...

Found this older topic, it has some info on what to do with the visitor controller + a "no vampires" mod by Chris Hatch (which isn't compatible with the visitor controller, so you'd have to choose).

Loos like the only 100% guaranteed way to get rid of them (as in not first-time spawning, not showing up) is to not add the Downtown subhood.

Yeah I am familiar, like I said in my post on step 3 I merged Chris Hatch's no vampire mod into the visitor controller because well I can do that and resolve the conflict, and his mod unfortunately does not prevent vampires from appearing Visitor Controllers built in NPC block is ineffective, the bans works on some types but it doesn't work on vampires. You can easily test this for yourself by going to a downtown lot and waiting for one to appear and then ban them. You'll see they go nowhere, other options you pick will get the sim sent away in a blue flash but vampires are blue-flash-immune.

Yeah I guess I should have been clearer rather than assume non-super natural game is clear enough that the only vamps that exist are the grand vampire NPCs But yeah I mean the NPCs, none of my sims are vampires nor will there ever be any. But the Grand Vampires are annoying, they sit in the background looking stupid, and then my sims who met them roll wants to befriend and stuff that is absolutely not happening and just wastes space and potential on their want panels.

For NPCs, look in "Controller - NPC Pool". They are scheduled like NPCs for a job.

When you don't want to invite an NPC vampyre, return false.

I have the older pre-pets version of twojeffs' Visitor Controller. It's a global mod, rather than an object mod. I control which types of Sims I want to ban by putting special cloned versions of the Lady on Red painting on the walls of the lot. So at PaintBoyz, my nightclub just for gay teenage boys, I have paintings of The Lady Who Hates Females, The Lady Who Hates Adults, The Lady Who Hates Elders, and The Lady Who Hates Heterosexuals. I also have The Lady Who Loves Undies, so they all arrive in their skimpies. I also edited the BCONs for the mod (following instructions by twojeffs on their old Simbology site) to allow Mrs. Crumplebottom but ban Grand Vampires globally. This usually works, but for some reason it occasionally ignores my BCON edits, and reverts to twojeffs' defaults, allowing Grand Vampires and banning Mrs Crumplebottom. (I usually allow Mrs Crumplebottom because such well-intentioned(?) moral busybodies really are a thing in Real Life!) To deal with the quite rare occasions when it's ignoring my BCON edits, when my Sims arrive on a downtown lot, especially if it's dark or going to get dark soon, and I anticipate my Sims are going to stay on the lot for some time, I'll click on one of my current playables, select Adjust and then Visitors and, if the option to 'Ban Grand Vampires' is there, I'll click on it. That has always worked for me. In almost 14 years of playing The Sims 2, I can recall only 3 or 4 occasions on which Grand Vampires have appeared on downtown community lots. When I do spot one, I will again click on a controllable playable and select 'Adjust', 'Visitors', 'More...', 'Reset...' and then 'Cleanup Invalid Sims'. This does make them vanish in a blue flash!

. . . Well, at the moment my highest EP is still OFB, but I have bought the Pets EP disc, and was planning to install it in the foreseeable future. But your post @gummilutt is making me have second thoughts. I was presuming that I’d have to change my Visitor Controller to the post-Pets object mod version. It's beginning to make me think that the old version I have is better at keeping Grand Vampires under control than the newer version. I too like to play a fairly realistic game, and I have just about zero interest in the occult. In fact, with the solitary exception of Andrew, my very first Sim, every Sim I've ever made in CAS (and I've made a lot of CAS Sims) has Vampirism as their turn-off. I most definitely do not want my Sims to become vampires! I can only think of one Sim in my game who has ever even talked to a vampire. Once, a few years ago, at Bopperz, my downtown nightclub for straight teens, Romeo Monty, whom I wasn't even playing, got into conversation with Contessa Christa Traver (Shannon Copur in the game files). As I was playing other Sims, I hadn't spotted that she had sneaked onto the lot. When I spotted her talking to Romeo, I stopped him talking to her, and then, if I remember rightly, I zapped her with the Visitor Controller's 'Cleanup Invalid Sims'. For a few days Romeo had a positive relationship but it's long since dropped back to 0,0.

If the old global mod version of the Visitor Controller actually controls vampires better than the current object mod version, it might be worth trying to update it to work properly with the later EPs. I'm pretty sure you have the Simantics coding ability to fix it, whereas I fear I'd be struggling. Whatever solution you might come up with, I'd definitely be very interested to hear. I'll put any plan to install Pets on hold meantime. Yes, I'd like my Sims to be able to have pets, but not at the cost of Grand vampires running amok as they appear to have been doing in your game! I'm not quite sure where you'd get the pre-Pets version of the Visitor Controller now, as Simbology, where I got it, is long gone, but I'm sure someone has archived the downloads. Or if you like, I could send you a link to my version, complete with my BCON edit to ban Grand Vampires.

By the way, the club is called "PaintBoyz" because it's all the paintings on the walls, that restrict admission to just boys who like boys!

Grand Vampires do not run amok. They don't even bite anyone unless a sim has worked on a good relationship with them. So don't use them as an excuse not to install Pets lol.

After years of playing without a Downtown, i added one. I assumed my town was doomed until I read about The Lady in Red paintings. I downloaded them years ago. I remember using them quite frequently.
