Default personality mod
Hi, I don't know if what I'm looking for exists, but I've got nothing to lose by asking... I had a personality mod and I honestly don't know what it did, but I think it did something. I removed it and now I can't find it. I created a new family and they're all very similar. I mean, they make the "that Sim is crazy" gesture with their fingers on their head, and they didn't do that before. They all behave pretty much the same... Is there a mod that removes that absurd behavior, or at least makes them not do it all the time?... Or a mod that gives each Sim a little personality? I had one of those, but I can't remember what the mod was called.

I have never seen this behavior in 16 years of simming, outside of making fun of other sims dancing badly. The sims have the personality you gave them when you made them in CAS, 0-10 in Sloppy/Neat, Shy/Outgoing, etc. plus their aspirations, plus the randomized elements of the wants they roll and the autonomous actions they take.

Are you perhaps thinking of a traits mod?

Dreadpirate has a mod here, could that be the one you're thinking of? and Epi has one for babies here

I saw it once when a rude sim decided to express her opinion of someone being treated by the Therapist. XD

I also saw that behavior over the years it is rare but it does exit, using their finger going around their head meaning the Sim is crazy.

I've seen that as well when bystanders see sims talking to the (invisible-to-them) Therapist. I don't think this behaviour has anything to do with a personality mod though, or at least not one that I've noticed.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for replying! In one game, with that mod (I found it in a backup), the Sims are acting silly, doing that crazy finger thing, and laughing all the time... it's really annoying. This mod is very useful; my Sims are much more "normal." Thanks! I'm going to save this page now. (mod by Dreadpirate )

This animation doesn't have wanting to do with personality or with any mods, it's triggered by an emitter on the lot. You can delete the emitter with the stuck object remover.

What is a solar emitter? Explain a little about what it is and how to remove it.

Not sure what solar emitters have to do with anything?

Like I said, you can delete the emitter that's causing the problem by using the stuck object remover. It'll be wherever the sims are looking or pointing when they do the reaction.

Hi, well no, I don't know what emitters are in a sim lot. I don't know much about technical stuff. If you have a website that explains that... well, with that mod they don't do those things anymore...

Like I said, the emitter just causes sims to do those reactions. You can delete it and they will stop doing the reactions. That's all they do. None of the mods mentioned here have anything to do with emitters, and won't change how sims react to them. If the reaction has stopped, that means either the emitter was deleted, or you're now on a different lot that doesn't have that emitter on it.

If you've managed to fix it then I wouldn't worry about emitters.

I explained what emitters are like three separate times here.

As far as I know emitters are some sort of invisible object that trigger sims to react to them. Like if you get a stinky pet bed and the sim stops to react to the smell. I think the dirty state creates the emitter (I don't know why the bed itself can't just be reacted to). Once the bed is cleaned then that deletes the emitter. I may, however, be totally wrong as I don't know why the 'this sim is crazy' would be at all related to an emitter, as it's a reaction to a sim's behaviour?

At any rate, they shouldn't be sticking around once the reason for them is over, but lots of things can get stuck. The Batbox has a tab to fix 'stuck' things, so check there to see if anything shows up (it won't show up if there's nothing there).

Sims can't really react to other sims' behavior, like there's no code where they are constantly scanning the area to see if some sim is doing some particular interaction so that they can react. All of that stuff is handled by emitters, which actively grab other sims and push them to react to whatever is happening. Sometimes they get stuck, and are still there doing their thing after the sim that spawned them is long gone.
