The Brandy Broke Story, Part 21
December 2, 2011

Welcome back.

After Dr. Brooks looked over her
charts, he told Brandy that he needed to look at her incision.
Dustin having no stomach for that sort of thing placed his little
brother back in the crib and left the room, so that Dr. Brooks could
examine his patient. "The incision looks good," he told her, he
continued to examined his work. Brandy felt nauseated for a moment
while she had thoughts about getting sliced open for a emergency
C-Section, and all of her guts hanging out.
None to soon, Dr. Brooks pulled her hospital robe back into place.

"Looks like we have a healthy baby and a healthy mother." Dr. Brooks
announced. Brandy could feel that he was leading to something that he
did not really want to say to her, and much to his relief she figured it out.
"You want to know if I want to see my other baby don't you," Brandy asked
with a lump in her throat.
"Yes, that is a matter that needs to be addressed as soon as possible,"
Dr. Brooks agreed.
"What did the baby look like?" Brandy asked him.
"The baby had not completely formed yet, and would not of survived.
The twin had a head and the beginning of a torso, lots of hair on the
head and 3 teeth."
Brandy felt uneasy and sick to her stomach again.
She found that she needed to stand up and breath a bit of fresh
air by the window.

It had rained sometime earlier that morning, and the air was crisp
and fresh. Brandy took a deep breath and felt revived from the cool,
fresh air. She made her decision, faced Dr. Brooks and told him no,
that she did not want to see the baby. His description was enough,
and seeing her baby that way would hurt her heart to much.
Dr. Brooks was very understanding as he listened to Brandy, who had tears
streaming down her while she told him how she felt.
"Thank you, Dr. Brooks for being there when I needed you most."

Dr. Brooks accepted Brandy's embrace, willingly. Brandy was one of
those patients that he would never forget. And maybe he did not want
to let her go as he hugged her back.

Brandy inhaled the scent of Dr. Brook's aftershave, while she hugged
him. It was very nice. And it was then that she knew she had better get
back into bed; she had no time for romance. She found herself appreciating
the scent of him and his embrace, none the less though. 'Or maybe
its just the drugs', she thought to herself.

Just after Brandy lay back down in the hospital bed, Nurse Gretchen
entered the room. "Oh, Good morning Dr.Brooks. I see you have found
my favorite patient for the day."

Dr. Brooks seemed kind of squirmy for a moment. He was thinking
of how much he really agreed with Nurse Gretchen's statement, but
quickly composed himself.

Then Dustin came back into the room, and insisted that he get a
picture of Dr.Brooks holding the baby. Of course, Nurse Gretchen
was more than willing to help out, and quickly handed Dr.Brooks
baby Skip Jr. " Say Cheese," Dustin told him.
"Dustin, now I would like a picture of Dr.Brooks and I. Also, one of Nurse
Gretchen and I", Brandy requested nicely.

Nurse Gretchen was more than willing to cooperate for the photo opts.

After at least twenty pictures, Dr. Brooks gave his final doctor's orders
for Brandy. She would have to stay in the hospital for two more days
and then she could go home if all was going well. Also, that a Counselor
from the hospital would visit her later, and that he would check in on her in the morning.
"Goodbye doctor!" Brandy and Dustin called after him as he returned to
his rounds.

Brandy enjoyed a nice, yummy, hospital breakfast, and sat talking
with her son, Dustin, awhile. Dustin had brought Brandy's suitcases
to the hospital that morning.

Dustin looked at her with a serious look and told her that when
he went to get her suitcases out of the closet, that it was very cold
inside. He had put his hand on the safe that held his father's mysterious
brief case, and it was cold like it had been in the refrigerator.
"As soon as I get home son, we will close the curtains and lock the
doors as requested and see what is in your father's brief case that
demands such secrecy."
Brandy was about to say more, but just then there was another knock
on the door.

"Come in," Dustin answered.

"Grandpa!" Dustin greeted him with a hug. "Where is Grandma?" he
asked right away.
"She is out in the lobby waiting for you; she needs help bringing in
all the flowers and balloons she just bought."
"Hi, Dad," said Brandy.
"Hi sweetheart," he gave his only daughter a kiss on the cheek.
"You look a HELL of a lot better than you did yesterday."
Brandy giggled."Thanks, dad."

Nurse Gretchen came back into the room to take Brandy's blood pressure
and vitals. When she walked in, Brandy greeted her and introduced her to
her father Herb Davis.
"How wonderful, he is just in time to change the baby's diaper
for me, while I take your vitals."

"No, I don't think so," Grandpa refused.

"No dirty diapers for me. Ask his Grandma, she will be here in a
minute. She just loves to change dirty diapers," he exaggerated
dramatically.

"Whats that Herb?" said Coral Davis, Brandy's mom, entering the room.
"Are you trying to convince this nice young lady to change your diapers too?"
Brandy and Nurse Gretchen burst out laughing, causing Brandy to hold
her stomach, where she had her stitches. Even though laughter is very
good medicine, this dose did come at a price. "Ouch!"

"You women always stick together against us poor men," he laughed.
