Hi everybody,
I have created a rather large dorm for those of you out there that want to punish your video cards and computer processing power
It uses a 6x5 lot which slopes down to a corner and has three buildings with three levels each.
It has a total of 21 dorm rooms, as well as a TV lounge, 2 Lane bowling alley, Live music room, Nightclub room, Gym, Study library and a Games room.
The pool allows you to walk past and see your sims swimming from the side.
Due to some of the items above this dorm requires UNIVERSITY & NIGHTLIFE.
I have furnished all the extra rooms and added basic furniture to the dorm rooms, (bed, desk & chair, dresser).
The lot has been checked with Sim2pack Clean Installer and saved as 'lot only' so there should be no hacks or custom content in the file.
A bit more background to the design
I have created a few terrains that have a distinct lack of flat ground because I find it more challenging to design my houses on sloped ground.
The game defaults however keep any lot’s slope pretty tame.
I am not sure if you can place this lot with standard settings, and if you find you have the dreaded 'red' no placement allowed under the lot in your neighborhood view you might need to adjust some settings to gain access to more locations.
To maximize the places available for lots you need to edit the Neighborhood.ini file.
To make it work in all your neighborhoods you need to change the neighborhood.ini files in the following directories, (if installed in default locations):
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Sys
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 University\TSData\Sys
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSData\Sys
Its helpful to backup the file first in case you mess things up
Open each neighborhood.ini file with notepad and look for the paragraph that begins with the words [LotPlopTunables]
My setting at the end of the paragraph is:
MaxLotSlope=80.0
And to stop the lot becoming too flat when created in the [SmoothingUnderNewLot] paragraph I have changed the value to:
SmoothingTalusAngle=35.0
Dont forget to save the changes after your done.
Boatnana’s post has a few more details of allowing lots to be placed on bigger slopes:
Change max slope value **Update Dec 14, 05**

And to allow better camera angles zooming etc I recommend checking this post out:
GunMod's Camera Mod 3.1

I have this dorm located on my 'University Isle' positioned in the hollow near the lower bridge.

Hope you will enjoy...
(if at reduced video settings to speed things up a little)
The pictures give you a view of the dorm from a couple of angles and three floor plan views of all the buildings.
There is also a sampler of what some of the non-dorm rooms look like.

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
