Ruler of the sea and the
personification of the ocean.
In his anger he often caused
storms, therefore he was feared by sailors.
Aegir was a giant, and known for hosting elaborate parties
for the gods. His hall is a place of sanctuary lit with
bright gold and where the beer pours itself. Thus he was called the Alebrewer.
He had nine daughters with his wife,
Rán, and they were called the billow maidens. Their
names of each reflect different characteristics of
ocean waves.
He is a son of Fornjótr, a giant and a king of
Finland, and brother of Logi (fire, flame) and Kári
(wind).
After Balder's death, Loki insulted the gods in Aegir's
hall and killed Aegir's servant Fimafeng.
The noun aegir means 'a high wave (often dangerous) caused by
tidal flow (as by colliding tidal currents or in a
narrow estuary)
As Aegir lives under the sea, I have made him as merman. Unfortunately you cant see it in the pic'. Usually he was illustrated with white hair and beard, but I think black suits him better.
