Gender preference - alternative way to play with

This mod slightly alters the way gender preference works in romantic socials, as per the comparison scheme below.

• Autonomy
  • Default: Both sims must have the correct gender preference
  • Modded: Target sim may have opposite gender preference
• Crush and Love flags
  • Default: Indipendent from gender preference
  • Modded: Will trigger only if the sim has correct gender preference

Waitwut? Explain, please
1) In default behavior, sims will not autonomously do romantic socials unless target sim already has a compatible gender preference.
Example: a gay male sim will not try to flirt with another male sim, even if both are in love each other, unless the target sim is gay or bisexual too.
With this mod, the gay sim will flirt autonomously with target sim, either he's gay, bisexual or straight.

2) In default behavior, you can force sims flirt/kiss/etc. and consequently fall in love each other, whatever their gender preference is: it only depends on their mutual relationship score.
With this mod, crush and love will trigger only in correct gender preference sim.
Example: A gay male sim flirts with a straight male sim, they have relationship score 100/100. In default behavior, both will fall in love - i.e. will have crush and love flags. With mod, only the gay sim will fall in love, while the straight one will not.

Also, attraction and gender preference increase/decrease will work as usual: if sim A (male) does a romantic social towards sim B (female), sim B gender pref will increase by +2 towards females, and decrease by -1 towards males; sim B gender pref will be +2 toward males and -1 toward females.
Same thing applies in same gender sims, with +2 toward same gender, and -1 toward the opposite one.


Still baffled? I know. Let's make some examples in attempt to clarify more
One day, John (gay) returns home from work with Sam, a straight coworker friend. John likes Sam a lot; if they were both gay it would be a three-bolts attraction, but of course Sam doesn't give a damn about John as a potential mate.



In default game, you could force them to interact romantically; you could even make them have a crush or love each other, but they would never have any autonomous romantic interaction, unless you succeed to revert Sam's gender preference to males, or at least making him bisexual. If Sam starts with a high gender preference for females, this means a lot of boring and somehow nonsensical work, like forcing them to flirt continuously for days.

With this mod, instead, John will try romantic socials anyway, because of his strong attraction; Sam's reaction will depend on how much high his relationship is with John and how much is he nice and/or playful.
Attraction score modifications will apply only to John, so he will attempt more dashing actions, while Sam's total lack of attraction will make him reject the most of them.
John's hope of having Sam falling in love with him will require a lot of work anyway, of course, but at least it will not have to be mechanically boring, as for the most part it will be autonomous.

I hope my explaination makes some sense.

UPDATE AND BUGFIX 27 December 2008
2 versions created: one for players that own Apartment Life (and/or Mansion & Garden) and the other for those who don't.

Teen/Adult version
Enables the variation in relationship points and flags in romantic socials between adults or elders and teens.
Given that this mod affects only the result of a romantic social, you also add to your collection some other mod that enables adult/teen romantic interactions, like the Inteenimator, TwoJeff's adult/teen attraction, etc. (have a look at Simbology, for those).

Instruction
Drop in the Downloads folder (or a subfolder), start the game and enjoy.

Compatibility
It should work in any EP/SP configuration, providing you have at least 1 EP installed - except Uni (EP1) alone: NL or superior EP required; Double DeLuxe should work as well.

• marhis-genderprefs-FT: will work in Base Game + any combination of EP and SP, except Uni alone, up to Free Time.
• marhis-genderprefs-AET-FT: the same above, adult/elder/teen enabled
• marhis-genderprefs-AL: will work if you have Apartment Life and/or Mansion & Garden
• marhis-genderprefs-AET-AL: same as above, adult/elder/teen enabled

Example:
Base game ---> will not work
Base game and University ---> will not work
Base game and Nightlife ---> will work with FT version
Base game, Nightlife and University ---> will work with FT version
Base game, Free Time and Mansion & Garden ---> will work with AL version

and so on.
