Why not give your sim child a soft glow cuddle lamp?
this lamp glows with a soft colour light just for your childs sleeping needs.

I will make more childrens lamps when i get more time to do so,
but for now i just wanted to make sure it worked ok,
please let me know if you have any problems and i will correct them
