F.Y.I.
Apartment Life gives Simmers the option to use Floor Tiles as Ceilings. However, most of the Maxis/EA Floor Tiles do not look good as ceilings. So...I give you the Sistine Chapel Textures as a part of the Ultimate Ceiling Superset! (If you do NOT have Apartment Life, See the "Alternative Ceilings" Section Below).

A Brief History
I know...I know...Ceiling SUPERSET? Really? It all started innocent enough with me needing a few ornate ceilings for my Gwrych Collection. Seeing that necessity is the mother of invention...I had to create what doesn't already exist in a complete set. Besides...methinks these sets are downloads you won't realize you need until you actually start using them. Ceilings and floor tiles are not quite the same and while some of the Maxis and User Created floor tiles are good enough to use as ceilings, ceiling tiles need a to be a bit more 3D. So, I sought out as many ceiling samples as I could find and created others to meet my current and future lot design needs. Basically, I needed a bit more variety. So...thus was born the Ultimate Ceiling Superset! The neat thing is these ceiling tiles are really floors...so most (but not all) would look WONDERFUL as floor tiles. There are also a few walls used in the Elemental Texture Set and the Sistine Chapel Texture Set. Basically, there is quite a bit of diversity to this collection which took weeks to pull together and make presentable as not only do you have hundreds of SEAMLESS ceilings, a few SEAMLESS walls and a few SEAMLESS terrains...but you also get the Sistine Chapel Community Lot, as well as sensible texture file names and collection files for each set! Anywho...do enjoy the downloads!

About This Collection: 137 SISTINE CHAPEL TEXTURES

This Post contains 12 Sistine Chapel "Ceiling" Floors, 27 Sistine Chapel "Regular" Floors and 98 Sistine Chapel Walls. The Sistine Chapel Walls include 21 Murals (14 Frescoes and 7 Tapestries) of Artwork by Bernini, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Roselli, Perugino, Signorelli, Da Lecce, Van Den Broeck and Raphael. The 14 Frescoes include 6 "Life of Jesus" Paintings that represent the North Wall of the Sistine Chapel, 6 "Life of Moses" Paintings that represent the South Wall of the Sistine Chapel and 2 Paintings that were destroyed and recommissioned that hang above the entrance door. While there are actually 8 Tapestries by Raphael, all but 1 are murals. There are also 20 walls that have been revised by yours truly (for discretion) to serve as a replica of Michelangelo's "Last Judgement" mural that makes up the front wall of the Sistine Chapel above the altar. And of course there are 8 Ceiling Floor Tiles that comprise Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel Ceiling. There are also walls that replicate a small variety of the actual Papal walls in the Sistine Chapel and other complimentary textures for each level of the chapel. I tried to keep the collection as detailed and authentic as possible...so please enjoy the set.

I mainly included this collection for those of you who would like to use the walls in a different way or who would like to build your own version of the chapel. I assure you just as it was a major task for Michelangelo to paint the ceiling...it will be a major undertaking to build your own Sistine Chapel. With all the image editing and replicas, I found it quite a challenge...but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Part 7 of the Ultimate Ceiling Superset contains the Sistine Chapel Community lot for those of you who simply would like to enjoy the lot without all the work!

Several of the ceiling/floor tiles and walls (including the murals) can be used for your other creations. They will make great accent textures for mansions, studios, museums, churches or any other fancy creation you may have in mind!

Special Notes:
If you are going to build your own Sistine Chapel, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

1st
It is best to build this chapel on the same size lot I used to keep the ceiling from facing the wrong direction. I used a 2x3 lot.

2nd
You should also lay the 8 part ceiling tiles on the ground in your 2x3 lot to make sure the tiles are facing the proper direction (as in the image below). If your tiles are facing the wrong direction, simply place the lot in a different location and direction in your neighborhood.

3rd
I also want to point out that because each Sistine Chapel Ceiling 5x5 floor is treated as an individual mural, there will be a fine line dividing each of the 8 parts. But, I assure you it doesn't take away from the overall look of the ceiling or the lot.

4th
F.Y.I. - There are 14 Fresco Murals (10 that are 2 Wall Tiles & 4 that are 3 Wall Tiles) and 7 Tapestry Murals (all 2 Walls Tiles with an extra 1 Wall Tile image of "Paul In Prison") in this collection. While I did label the various package files with the names of each Artist and Title, the Artist and Title names are not noted in the in-game descriptions. However, they are numbered. With that said, you may wish to save the images in this download to a folder for future reference as I did label each mural in the images by Number, Artist and Title. This will be useful when you are building your own chapel or trying to locate a specific painting. Each of the Frescoes are surrounded by a picture frame, so this allows you to place them in any lot on any wall without it conflicting with the wall you are using. In this way, each Fresco Mural can be used in lots other than the Sistine Chapel!

5th
You will definitely need to use a Sistine Chapel layout map and details about the various images to pull your Chapel together as there are 137 textures in the Sistine Chapel Textures Collection. I used the following resources to create my vision/version of the Sistine Chapel:

http://www.thetapestryhouse.com/abo...tapestries.html

6th
I did perform a bit of "image editing" to keep the images discreet or to make the image fit in prescribed size (so the aspect ratio would't be off). Basically, hiding nudity with clothing and moving the edges of images in by precision outlining and re-pixeling. Don't ask...let's just say it was an interesting learning experience because I wanted to preserve the look & style of the original work without it "seeming" altered.

Be sure to click on all the images below to see samples of the entire collection!

Important Note FOR USERS WHO DO NOT HAVE APARTMENT LIFE

Apartment Life gives you the option of painting your ceiling using floor tiles. While you do not need Apartment Life to use these textures, you can only paint your ceilings if you have Apartment Life. EPs before Apartment Life do not give you the option of painting your ceilings.

The Ultimate "Ceiling" Collection are floor tiles. If you don't have Apartment Life, you can still use any of the tiles seen in this collection "AS FLOORS".

With that said...

Note: You will need the MESH from the first link by jgwhiteus for the ceiling recolours in all the other links to work properly. From my understanding, these ceilings are resource hungry, so it is best to use them only if you have an above standard computer system. Also, you must place each tile 1 at a time (which can be pretty time consuming for larger rooms). In all honesty, I think it is much more practical to own Apartment Life if you desperately want to have ceilings in your game. I sound like a Poster Child for Maxis/EA!
