What is this?

Hello there!

When I first get Uni EP it was "Hell, yeah!", but when I saw a university world itself, it became "Hell, no". Too large, too empty and, which is the most awful thing, too laggy - it freezes every holy minute. No fun.

So, my goal was to made nice, small and lags-free world for default University replacement. I'm not a over-skilled city architect, but I'm a bit proud of the world I built after all.

It was fully playtested for a couple of times until I make sure it done perfectly and decide to share it with you.

Technical info
To sum up:
  • Requirements: I try to avoid CC in this world as mush as possible, so the only ones I use was a terrain paint by Simsimillian. The bad news it requires a couple of EPs to display all content properly; the good news is that if you don't have such packs as Seasons and Showtime - you just won't have such specifics to this addons stuff as rink and karaoke (and something like that) and some decor, it will replace with some basegame stuff, but the other will be ok. You obviously need University, though.
  • Map Size: As I sad, this world is small and was build on 512x512 map. Yay!
  • Spawners: 'Cas during the semester my sims don't have much time for gathering, I only include a few fish spawners (base game) in a small lake, a couple of butterlies spawners (base game) and a wild flowers generator near the big park. Hope it's enough for you too.
  • Routing Info: In oder to reduce posibility of lags, I made most parts of the world - forest, mountains and, sorry guys, but the big lake too - unrouting. The rest part of the world is routing nice. Camera routing is painted like a border around the map.
  • Layers: 8 at total: general, community, residental, lights, big trees, small trees, spawners and decor.
  • Textures: I'm not a great landscape painter, so I used only 8 textures at all, so there is 8 textures per chunk. Hope it still look ok though.
  • Lots: The world has all type of lots which the original world has, except of pond. Nevertheless, you can have a nice time near the smaller lake:

    There are 41 lots in total in the world.


    I place different residental types lots, so your sim can live in common dorm, in girls or boys societies (all looks the same, depend just on your gameplay favour) or, if your sim is such a sociopath as mine, there are 10 free double/four beds houses size of 10x10. And the rent for them is less than 200 simoleans, hey!
  • Population: This world IS pre-populated! However, it's not thouse your may know from the original world ('cas I don't want to risk), it's a brandly new one, but hey, they also know how to make your university life fun! :D

    I use Master Controller functions to attach all of them for majors; I also made six of them to work as professors - one per major, and they work perfectly during playtest - you know, read lections, say that little funny things during rabithole's lessons and give you credits at last.

Some closer details


Knowing issues:
  • Because Student Union is a custom lot, you need Nraas Career mod (the base only, though) if you want to have first day greetings meeting in your game.
  • Although lots were prebuilt on flat map and all plots were smoothed by Flatten Terrain, there are some lots that aren't flat enough on edges during matching the terrain, like pool, big park or library. You will need a bit more work with terrain tools with thouse lots if you want export them to another world.
  • Despite the world is small, it takes me a couple of minutes to load (well, the original one sometimes loads for 15 minutes, so it's much more faster nevertheless). Except this, in fact, it works smooth and perfectly even on my actually non-gamer laptop with AMD E-450 processor and ATI Radeon HD 6320 graphchip on the board.
  • For some unknown reason, sometimes uni world doesn't load properly from the old saves which you had before this replacement. In that situation, you should try to start a new game instead.

How to install?
  • First of all, if your active sims are in original University world - graduate them or send to home first! Saves from original uni won't work in this one!
  • Download and extract the archive. Put those files from folder "CC" in your ordinary mods folder.
  • Navigate to:

    if you have cd installed game or
    Code: 
    \Program Files (x86)\Origins Games\The Sims 3\University Life\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds
    if you have digital download game.
  • backup the original Sims University.world located here by moving it somewhere safe or rename somehow (add _orig for example).
  • Place the extracted .world file here.
  • Delete caches before starting game, especially from

    \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\WorldCaches
  • Ready to play! :D
