Sky Fix

This mod fixes several issues with the sky in the lot view:
  • the sun, moon, stars, and meteors are no longer partly hidden if you have Seasons, any later expansion pack, or Mansion & Garden Stuff installed.
  • custom neighborhood skyboxes and horizons (if configured correctly – see the section for creators of skyboxes):
    • blend with terrain edges instead of being cut off,
    • are fully visible instead of partially visible high up in the sky if you have Nightlife, any later expansion pack, or any stuff pack installed.

This mod does not restore the base game clouds, but there is another mod that does: the clouds controller by Lowedeus. There's also a global version of it by Lazy Duchess – it makes clouds appear automatically.
Updates
15 Apr 2017: Added a fixed version for Mac – the snow texture doesn't flash purple outside lot boundaries anymore.


Choosing the right version
  1. If you have an old version of this mod (simNopke-skyFix-### or simNopke-skyFix2-###), delete it first. Go to 2.
  2. If you play on Mac and have Super Collection or Bon Voyage installed, choose EP6 Mac. If not, go to 3.
  3. If you play on PC and have Ultimate Collection, or at least one of the following packs installed: Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life, Mansion & Garden Stuff – choose EP6. If not, go to 4.
  4. If you have Seasons installed, choose EP5. If not, go to 5.
  5. If you have at least one of the following packs installed: Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, any stuff pack (except Mansion & Garden Stuff) – choose EP2.
    If not, choose base.
The EP5, EP2 and base versions should work fine on both PC and Mac.

Known issues
None caused by this mod.
However, there is a bug that is difficult to notice if you don't use this mod and you have Seasons, any later expansion pack, or Mansion & Garden Stuff installed: double sun and double moon.

For creators of skyboxes
To make a neighborhood skybox compatible with this mod, use a proper value for the stdMatLayer parameter in the material definition (TXMT) of the skybox:
  • -6: solid sky,
  • -5: something between the sky and the horizon, for example clouds,
  • -4: horizon.
Unfortunately, the sun, moon, stars, and meteors won't be covered by clouds or horizons.
