One thing I really wanted in Get to Work was the option to have home businesses, like you could with Open for Business. Sadly, it's not possible! However, what is possible is a fully liveable retail lot.

Thus Serena's Outdoor Bakery & Lounge was born!

Serena is an artist as well as a baker. The house is filled with her paintings and has her fabulous artist's studio on the ground floor, perfect for supplementing the income from the bakery.



Serena's husband Aidan regularly helps out with the bakery, when he's not upgrading the household appliances or helping their teenage daughter with her homework. During play-testing, I found that a bakery this size was easily manageable with just one sim actively looking after it - no employees required.



Since this is a home as well as a business, keeping the home locked up is important. You can customise the access the bakery's customers have to the house and/or bar by locking the porch doors:



If you just want to restrict access to the house, you can lock the internal door and leave the porch doors open. If you want to restrict access to the house and bar, you can lock either/both of the external glass doors.

Note: For some stupid reason, TS4 thinks this lot is modded, so it may only show up in your library if you have the "modded" option ticked. However, THERE IS NO CC INCLUDED IN THIS LOT. TS4 likely thinks it's modded because I used Menaceman44's unlocked EA trick or treat objects. These objects are already present in the game, though, and Menaceman44's mod just allows access to them.
