For as long as I have been playing The Sims, I have wanted to create Giles' apartment from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
It's a compact Spanish-style single floor apartment with a staircase leading up to a suspended bedroom level. The living space flows effortlessly into the dining area with a breakfast bar to the side and a view through to a modest kitchen. The bathroom can be found towards the rear of the house.
To the front is the stunning courtyard, bursting with greenery and potted plants, with a large fountain centrepiece. At either side, Sims can sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility or a spot of al fresco dining.
The property is enclosed within a giant facade to give owners maximum privacy.
TV feeds you lies...
One of the biggest issues when it comes to TV/Movie builds is that in most cases the interior set and the exterior are not mutually exclusive, which is a pain in the rear end. Giles' apartment is no different. His home first appears in season two, with an exterior shot that cannot conceivably match up in terms of what we later see of the general courtyard and surrounding asthetic. In later seasons, the real life exterior for that courtyard is shown (also seen in Melrose Place for those who didn't already know).
After studying the El Pueblo apartment block as much as I could through fan photos and Google maps, I decided it may be a pointless effort because I'd have to create and entire apartment complex just for one home which stretches my patience beyond its limits. Instead, I opted for building Giles' home and the courtyard and then working outward to create something that captured a Spanish-style home and the essence of the Buffy interior set.
What's in a Name?
Naming a build is always hard and I thought in this case it might be easier. However, 'El Pueblo' translates to 'The Village' which seemed a bit much and after some trial and error in translation, I decided on 'El Pensador', meaning 'The Thinker'.
Placing This Lot
All my TS4 lots are created with bb.moveobjects, bb.showhiddenobjects and bb.showliveeditobjects turned on. To ensure all objects show up as intended, I would recommend loading the lot from Build Mode with these cheats already enabled.
Please do not re-upload my work elsewhere or modify/claim as your own.
If you have created a Sim or lot that includes any of my creations, all I ask is that you credit me and link back to the respective MTS page or to b2sims.com
I do not take requests. My creations are made for my own enjoyment or requirement of what I'm making and shared so that others may also enjoy them. The element of expectation just takes the fun out of it.
Wanna convert my stuff for TS2 or TS4? Drop me a message. I'll probably say yes because I'm too lazy to convert it myself. :p
I don't mind a bit of exposure either, so if you'd like to feature anything on your site (no pay sites or Exchange), please credit items accordingly and link back to the original download. Don't forget to let me know where you've featured it so I can tell my mother and make her proud. ;)
