This is a personal favourite of the creator!
A few nights ago I couldn't sleep and I saw a few hours earlier a friend playing my favourite game: Final Fantasy VII.
More specifically, he reached Junon for the first time.
Once I saw the landscape of the Under Junon ghetto, I thought it would be the perfect layout to build as an apartment in The Sims 2.!
So I started building, and building, and building, and decorating. Of course I had to take a few liberties, since in RPGs, especially older ones, houses are meant as a one-time visit, single-room locations, and that wouldn't do for our little sims, wouldn't it?
That's why I've "expanded" the houses by building what I thought were the remaining parts of the house, the unseen places like bathrooms or in some cases bedrooms.
As an example, I'll show Priscilla's room:
Of course, it would be absurd that the house would consist only of THAT room, but I had an entire floor to fill down under with a kitchen, a bathroom and all the other things a Sim needs. The other reason I brought up Priscilla's room is that I think it clashes with the rest of Under Junon, which is supposed to be the most poor part of that town, yet she has a nice and comfy room that fills up pretty much the entire second floor. I justified that in my head with the reasoning that her grandpa is trying to spoil her or at the very least trying to let her live in the best conditions as possible.
Another thing I want to point out, especially for simmers who haven't played Final Fantasy VII, is the lot structure on the borsers:
Under Junon is pretty much a shanty town located on the beach side of the "proper" Junon, and that wall in the game contains an elevator that lets you access what is considered the "real" town. While there's no elevator since there would never be enough room in a single lot to build the entire Junon, I still built the elevator wall as a way to reproduce the atmosphere of the original thing. Same reason for the side mountains and the water area that make the lot border unleveled.
For those reasons, I strongly advise to put the lot in a mounty and rather tall area of your neighborhood.
Since it's supposed to be a very poor area, I set the lot class value as low so that only Gearheads should rent the unused apartments.
In conclusion, now your sims too can live a life of squallor sponsored by Shinra, Inc.! Aren't you happy?

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
