UPDATE: 12/23/2008
While working on my carpool replacements recently I discovered a problem with the hansom carpool, it and the rickshaw were interfering with each other, causing the hansom to use the rickshaw's mesh. I fixed the problem and uploaded a new hansom carpool. If you have downloaded this before, you should download the new carpool below and replace the previous hansom carpool with it. If you are downloading this for the first time, use the new hansom carpool instead of the one in fighter carpools.rar.

I forgot to specify it when I first uploaded this, but this career does require Nightlife for the reward only, since it functions as a drivable car. Of course, if you wanted to play the career and ignore the reward, I think (but I'm not 100% positive) that it wouldn't be a problem.

This is the Paladin from the Dungeons and Dragons game. Your basic "knight in shining armor" so prevalent in many fairy tales. I based all of the chance cards in this career on situations from famous fairy tales. The levels are based on the level titles for the paladin class in the 1st Edition Player's Handbook from 1978. The carpools and reward for this career are based on Hexameter's work, with his permission. Enjoy!

Details:
-- Unfortunately, this career (because of the custom carpools) will crash the game if you only have the basegame. Apparently the basegame is unable to handle custom carpools so you have to have at least one EP.
-- Custom Icons
-- Complete Chance Cards
-- Custom Uniforms (the squire uniforms are recolors of Maxis basegame outfits, the armor is from Open for Business, but I have included a version of the career with no custom uniforms so people without open for business can still use this career)
-- Custom Career Reward (Hexameter's ridable horse is doubling as the Paladin's warhorse)
-- Doesn't overwrite any career that I know of
-- Custom Carpools (based on Hexameter's vehicles, listed below)

Hexameter's Victorian Coach
Hexameter's Ridable Horse
Hexameter's Rendezvous Hansom
Hexameter's Rickshaw
Note: I include these links so that you can see where the carpools came from and to give credit to Hexameter for his work. But these are not the carpools. Having his drivable vehicles in your downloads folder will not give you the carpools as well. They are completely separate vehicles that just look exactly the same. They have different GUIDs. The carpools (which are required for the career to work properly) can be found in the file called Fighter Carpools.rar. If you want to have, say, the Rendezvous Hansom as both a drivable vehicle and a carpool you must have both packages: Hexameter's drivable one and the carpool version. This applies equally to all four.

Levels:
1. Squire ($225)
You've always wanted to be a knight, chivalrous defender of the weak and downtrodden and now you've gotten your foot in the door. You are in the service of a brave and noble knight, acting as his squire. If you prove yourself worthy, you have a chance to earn your own knighthood.

2. Gallant ($402)
Knighthood at last! No longer are you a lowly squire, fetching your lord his lance or sword, you are now a knight yourself, and you get to fight alongside your former master, always keeping the code of chivalry in mind.

3. Keeper ($512)
You have been assigned by the king to keep your village safe from evil. Assisting you in this task is the newfound ability to repel undead creatures merely through the power of your faith. This is your big chance to prove your worth, since there are quite a few threats to your village rearing their ugly heads.

4. Protector ($722)
You have successfully vanquished all the threats to your village and your king has granted your request to scour the countryside for other villages in need of assistance. You simply cannot abide evil or the thought of innocents being harmed. Help is on the way!

5. Defender ($831)
With several villages and townships rescued from destruction by your actions, the king has named you Defender of the Land. It is still your duty to travel the land and vanquish evil, but now you have some junior knights that you can send around to less demanding tasks while you handle the real threats, like maybe that dragon you've been hearing about lately.

6. Warder ($1005)
You have proven such a mighty man-at-arms that the king has called upon you to be the captain of his castle guard. This is quite an honor, and since you are going to be serving in the capital, you will have the chance to fight some of the more sinister forces that have been plaguing the land. Many plots exist to overthrow your good king and set in his place an evil despot.

7. Guardian ($1238)
After you have foiled several attempts to overthrow his rule, your king appoints you Guardian of the Throne. It is your job to locate and destroy evil forces seeking to supplant the king and subjugate the people of the land. You are once again traveling, seeking evil in its very lair so as to prevent threats from even reaching in towards the king.

8. Chevalier ($1474)
In your travels, as you went from place to place, smiting evil wherever you found it, you happened to meet several like-minded individuals of comparable skill. It is your idea that you should all get together and form a special order of knights. The most honorable and chivalrous knights in the land will all be chevaliers in this Order of Honor with the king as its leader.

9. Justiciar ($1820)
Recognizing the degree of chivalry and nobility in his chevaliers, the king feels that the time is right to give them judicial powers. From now on, all the members of the Order of Honor will decide together how the law of the land should be enforced and what punishments should be handed out to violators. All of this is to be done in such a way as to stamp out evil and create a lasting peace across the countryside.

10. Paladin ($3111)
You are recognized as being the most honorable, fair, chivalrous, and noble knight who has ever served any king of this land. The king gives you the title of Paladin and charges you with doing good deeds and smiting evil in whatever way you see fit. After all, he knows that the best way to make sure that great things happen for his land is to give you free reign.

Body, Mechanical, and Charisma are the required skills.

There are several required files for this. All are needed for it to work properly. There are the career, the reward (the warhorse), four uniform files, and two outfits. In addition, you need to get the carpools. These are required for the career to work properly. If you already have my Warrior Career , you do not need the carpools, as both careers use the same ones. If you do not have Open for Business, make sure you download the No Custom Uniforms version of the career and replace the file in the main .rar called "Paladin Career (Custom Uniforms)" with it. They have the same GUID, so please don't put both of them in your downloads folder at the same time.

Here's a screenshot of Sanjay Ramaswami about to head off to smite evil on his warhorse:

For the career and squire uniforms:
Use these or modify them as you will, but please don't upload to any paysite, even if it's free on the paysite, and please give me credit and send me a link to what you've done with it. Note that using the career without removing the reward and carpools will cause it to require Hexameter's vehicles.
