So where have I been for the last...year and a half? Hither and yon, my friends. Mostly yon. And I'm still not all here, Sims-creating-wise, because right now I'm not living in my house but in my boyfriend's, three states away from my house and on a beach, woo! The downside is that I have no access to my desktop. All I've got is this little netbook, which hasn't yet exploded from playing the game, bless its stalwart little heart, but it doesn't like to run SimPE at anything faster than glacial speed. Still, I got the jones to make SOMETHING, and Homecrafter works well on here. So, I make...carpet. Yay. And walls. But I still have to take pics of the walls, so carpet goes up first.

Because you know what I hate about the carpets in the game? I hate that most of them tend to look like paint spread on the floor. No texture. No illusion of depth. No variation in color. I got tired of what little I've got, so I raided a carpet manufacturer's website for some pictures to work with for textures and made some new ones of my own, mostly in neutral and neutral-dark colors because such colors are...Well, real-world, which is what I go for.

I made three different styles, all with texture and stuff, and I figured I'd share. Say hi. Confirm that I'm alive. Of course, the graphics on this netbook are pretty sucky with very not-smooth edges, but hey, at least you'll know that these will likely look better in your game than they do in mine. So, here's pics of each style in use in a room.

First, the plushie style, nice and thick with a deep pile. Comes in 24 colors. This is the kind of thick, smooshy stuff that you lay on thick, smooshy padding in bedrooms, like so:

Then there's the loop style, sort of a loose berber. Comes in 19 colors. Good for high traffic areas or anywhere else you'd put carpet:

Finally, there's the textured style. 18 colors. It's also a loop carpet but kind of more on the braidy-looking side:

Each style costs $2, same as most Maxis carpets, and they can all be found in, shockingly, the Carpet category under floor coverings. Color swatches for each style are attached. They're made up of in-game pics, taken top-down in relatively bright indoor light. All files are Compressorized and clearly named, yadda yadda.

And that's all I've got for now.
