Tsubaki Rentals - Japanese Apartments (No CC)

Hello modders, this is my first upload! In the wake of the "Around the World" theme this month, I thought it would be a perfect time to upload something from a 'hood I've been working on for a while. It's a Japanese-inspired neighborhood, and this is a Japanese style apartment building.

This lot features a small apartment building with four parts. Each bedroom comes with a bed for two (or one if that's how your Sim rolls) and a love seat in the living area. It would fit perfectly in a suburb. Each apartment is a cozy 84-96 sq. Sims squares, which is just enough for a single or couple of Sims and maybe a loyal pet. The apartments cost between $1,275 and $1,414 simoleons. The bottom apartments have larger patios than the top apartments have balconies. I myself have never been to Japan, but feel I know what a Japanese apartment generally looks like, as I have spent many hours on Google Maps looking at the exteriors, and Youtube viewing uploaders' tours of the interiors of their apartments.

The first thing your Sim will see is an assortment of different potted plants in the courtyard. I've seen a few homes do this. My belief as to why this is common practice is because Japanese city centers and suburbs tend to be concrete jungle-esque and people want something nice and green to look at.

NOTE: You can see the mailbox in the bottom left corner of this picture. When your Sim first arrives at the apartment when they move in, they will be dropped off in front of it instead of the street. So, the taxi will drive straight through the stone walls ... However, I've made many lots where the mailbox is in different places than the default one, and this appears to be a superficial problem.



When your Sim steps inside their apartment, they will be in the genkan, or an area where you take off your shoes before you enter a house. In the real world, this is actually considered a public space! As our Sims do not take of their shoes, it's all for show. A counter is there because often times there is shelving to store shoes in, but your Sims can just as easily use it as extra counter space.



Some of you may be thinking: "Why does the bathroom look like a freakin' spaceship?" Well that's because many Japanese bathrooms, both luxury homes and simple apartments, have a plastic looking material for their walls. This serves a very good purpose! If anything gets wet in the bathroom, there will be no problems. It seems a lot smarter than having wallpaper in bathrooms. The bathroom is separated for a more traditional reason. One will take a shower, and then go take a relaxing bath after, also toilets are considered very dirty, so they should be separate from the area in which you clean yourself.

NOTE: One mishap I have seen in the showering and bathing area is if you have a pet and wash it the tub, your pet will have to be ordered twice to go into the tub. The pet will not do the normal getting out the tub action and automatically appear outside of the tub after the bath is done. The tub will appear to be that it is draining, but will not actually drain. The next time the bathtub is used by a Sim, the bathtub will go back to normal. I've done this a few times in the bathroom and this seems to be a very superficial problem. I've also tried using the tub and shower combo and the same thing happens, so if that bothers you, I recommend you not have a dog in your apartment.



Unfortunately, the bottom left kitchen has some ugly clipping, but I honestly do no find that it bothers me and I hope it does not irk anyone too much.
