Thanked!
Welcome. First of all, I would like to note that this is my first time making a mod, and if it seems rather specific - well, it is.
I made it for my personal use but decided to upload it after I got a request in Nraas community.
What Is It?
This mod is a custom career that you can add to your game for your sims to have a bit of diversity in their choices. It's been written with patch 1.67 (Steam version of Sims 3) so I recommend you have the latest patch available. It's only available in English, but it's compatible with any language. The mod will be updated if there are any changes, but it's considered finished and has been tested in-game by me.
Hawaii 5-0 is a cop show about a speciality law enforcement team based in Oahu, who work alongside the police but have more freedom and immunity to get their job done, a sort of elite group within the state's authority. It's also very friendship/family heavy, and I tried to convey that when writing this mod.
It's very similar to EA's original Law Enforcement career, and borrows a lot of its resources because I used LE as a basis. I wasn't fully happy with EA's take on Law Enforcement, particularly the branching and their later levels, so I made myself something more akin to what I wanted my sims to have (the original plan was to write a new LE career, but halfway through it started to seem redundant).
What Do I Need?
World Adventures is required for the Martial Arts skill. The career won't work (or possibly even show up) without it. Can't say I've tested it.
How Do I Get It?
First and foremost, install Nraas Careers from the link provided above (if you don't have it yet).
After that, download the file here, unzip it and place it in your Mods >> Packages folder.
If you need help doing this, refer to the MTS Guide to Installing Sims 3 Packages.
What Does It Feature?
Most things you would expect any EA career to, with the exception of Events and Opportunities.
Five-0 Career is a full-time rabbithole career for YA, Adults and Elders. Your sim reports to City Hall for work and stays there until they're done (or you've decided otherwise). Any City Hall, single or combo unit, will do - I tested it in Island Paradise with a combo rabbithole myself. If the career is working as expected, you should see it available there. Should work with any building that has been assigned as a City Hall as well, by means of other mods and such (untested).
It also has:
It doesn't have:
Can I Get The Details?
Of course! If you're anything like me, you like to give everything a once-over before deciding if you want to install it, and if what I've listed so far isn't enough or you're just too curious, click the SPOILER buttons for more in-depth information about the career itself.
Job Offer:
There aren't many ways into the exclusive Five-0 Taskforce. Whether through being whisked away on the grounds of jurisdiction, inside connections or simply being in the right place at the right time, once you're drafted they'll do anything to keep you. Warning: you'll get shot at. Repeatedly.
Level 1 - 5-0 Consultant
Aloha and welcome to the Five-0 Headquarters. Don't get too comfy just yet, you're on a visitor's pass. As a Consultant for the taskforce, your job is to show up when called, share your knowledge and stay out of their way. Silver lining: you get to buddy up to the team and maybe help wrap up a case or two. Keep your expertise specialised, pay attention to your surroundings, and never say no to a 'case closed' beer after hours.
Level 2 - 5-0 Rookie
With one foot in at HQ, one out at the Academy, and if you're lucky (or they're short one eager busybody), an extra foot out there on the streets - you've got your first taste of the job! The Rookie always gets stuck with the work no one else wants to do, but don't let that discourage you. Prove your worth by getting your badge. Watch them and learn, study up the procedures and remember, you're part of a team now. Make it permanent.
Level 3 - 5-0 Officer
The shiny new badge on your belt adds to the notches you've been collecting with what paperwork or downright grunt work was thrown your way, and you're now officially and beyond doubt a full-fledged Five-0 Taskforce Officer. Guessing you can kick your feet up and ride the wave? Guess again! This is the real deal, and your Training Officer expects great things from you. Listen, follow, and train that roundhouse kick for when arrests get tricky.
Level 4 - 5-0 Detective
Keen eye, solid reasoning and good reflexes: all boxes checked by your former TO and now partner in crime-solving, which netted you the rank of Detective. You're the first person your team will rely on for independent legwork, checking out the little case details, questioning witnesses, tearing through the bulk of reports needed, the occasional coffee run... hey, stay sharp. You're on call for backup. With or without it, when the team needs you, you're there.
Level 5 - 5-0 Detective Sergeant
Ranking up above the rest might not seem like much when you see the change on your name plaque, branding you a Detective Sergeant. But it's enough rank to take the reigns of your own cases. You're calling the shots on your investigation, chasing your perps, delegating customary pavement poundings so you can follow up on real leads. Don't forget your partner, your sounding board, fraternal cornerstone and sparring company. Watch each other's backs. That's Team 101.
Level 6 - 5-0 Lieutenant
At ease, brah. Armed forces-related teasing aside, the fact of the matter is, you're in with the elite. A Lieutenant stands in the front line of the report train: uniforms come to you with findings and look to you for hints on how to procede. You watch over those ranking below you. The boss decides if the team takes a case or not, but your veteran opinion is valued. Train body and mind, hang with your new family and bring the snacks. When the call comes, day or night, be prepared.
Level 7 - 5-0 Captain
Your expertise surpasses the usual know-how around police procedures, handgun usage, perp catching and case cracking. Including basic hacking skills, innovative interrogation techniques, a memorized glossary on all weapons, undercover chamaleonics and maybe one too many close calls with the bomb squad, you've earned your title of Captain (of most trades). The boss might joke you're gunning for the big chair, but you're told to keep honing your talents and pass them on to the team.
Level 8 - 5-0 Inspector
Directly under the brass, or at least that's what the team has taken to calling it when the boss is just on the edge of earshot. You shouldn't laugh but as a senior elite member, and now an Inspector, you know everyone in the Taskforce is family and thought of as equal despite rank or years of service. You supervise training alongside your usual duties, make the boss's and second in command's life easier, and it's on you to remind them there's more to life than the job. Someone has to keep an eye on them.
Level 9 - 5-0 Second in Command
Second place doesn't generally sit well with most people. What those outside of the Five-0 Taskforce don't understand is, when it comes right down to it, you're basically in charge. Second In Command unsurprisingly means your 'boss' is your partner, and you stand on equal ground (most of the time). There's no one you're closest to. You rely and depend on each other to thrive in spite of the workload and responsibilities, keep each other grounded, keep your team safe. Then there's the mandatory beer and chill at the end of each case. Call it team building, or 'family gathering' if you're feeling mushy.
Level 10 - 5-0 Commander
Full immunity and means. Should be a privilege to take advantage of - unless your partner wears you down into acting in a more 'conventional' way. Still, you are the Commander. Your Five-0 Taskforce is not a democracy, it's a benevolent dictatorship. Even if none of them really believe you when you say it, that's how you operate. Just remember (or your second in command will do it for you, loudly): you still have room to grow. Mastery doesn't rule out practice, healthy habits include relaxation, and you lead by example. Keep your home safe and your family, blood or not, close. They always got your back. Mahalo.
Possible Future Updates?
Requests?
If you'd like to download this career but don't have WA, send me a pm and tell me which base game skill you think is more appropriate to replace Martial Arts with (available: Cooking, Fishing, Gardening, Guitar, Handiness, Painting and Writing, but not all fit the career) - I'm torn between Handiness and Writing.
If you'd like to play it in your language, I've included the Strings file in the available downloads. PM me first (in case someone is already working on it), download it, translate only what is between < STR >example< /STR > tags, and send it back to me to be implemented into the mod. I won't check your spelling or grammar, so be sure to be careful when translating and message me with any questions.
If you'd like to contribute to adding Events and Opportunities to this mod, aside from helping me out on how to do it - I would love to hear what your ideas are! So if you've got one and want to share, whether from being a fellow fan of the show or just playing it in your own game, drop me a PM as well. If I use it in my mod in any way, you will absolutely be credited for it. I'll try to reply to any messages I get as soon as possible.
Notes: this is not a contest of any kind, just a little nudge in case anyone feels like pitching in. Game resources (like rewards and buffs) from any EP except Into the Future are fine to be suggested along with the opps. No SP content though. Just in case you get really creative with your suggestion :]
Permissions:
You are free to alter, tune, modify and use as a base for whatever you'd like (for personal use).
If you want to share your own modified version with others, credit is appreciated. No pay sites or advertisement revenue. PM me so I can see what you made with it.
No credit necessary if you use it as a base to create a new career - that means if it's not a reworked/translated/slightly altered version of the original, but something different.
Otherwise, do not re-upload or claim as your own. This career has been provided completely free and no money will be made with it.
Additional Credits: S3PE - credit goes to the creators of the software
Twallan and the NRAAS Community - for the mods, tutorials and all the help provided while I was learning how to and going through the process of making this

Hawaii 5-0 series - without which I would never have thought to make this, so they deserve a mention
I made it for my personal use but decided to upload it after I got a request in Nraas community.
As of the start of October '18, Nraas has moved to a new website! It's still in development but downloads are up and running.
If you run into any problems regarding their downloads, please request help there. Remember to be polite and respectful, as you should in everything. :D

Should work with any building that has been assigned as a City Hall as well, by means of other mods and such (untested).
It also has:
- custom tones for skill building while at work, each one specific for a skill. Read the text when you're viewing the selection, the tips will tell you what they do;
- specific metrics for each career level, between Mood, Skill, Reports and Coworker Relationship;
- all text has been written by me to read and feel as close to the series genre as possible - grammar-checked, but let me know if you find a typo;
- automatic wake up time, minor feature that will make your sims wake up a while before they have to go to work, whether they've slept enough or not (you can prevent that by extending the 'sleep' action to Until Fully Rested);
- custom icon designed by me, with Photoshop, specifically for this career;
- and finally, though I didn't want to spoil it but I have in the pictures attached, EA Law Enforcement-specific promotion rewards from both branches;
It doesn't have:
- Events or Opportunities (I really want to add those in but I haven't fully figured out how to do it yet. If you happen to know how it's done, drop me a message! I'd love to learn more from the community and your experience. They need to be planned and written beforehand and I will only upload a version with them once I've tested it myself)
- custom Career Outfits (for two reasons: one, they are all different people in the show. Two, I like the freedom to assign my own career costumes. However, they will choose the police uniform for work in some levels unless you change it - which is appropriate and done on purpose)
- Retirement Option (honestly, I have no idea why I didn't include it xD but you won't find it. May be included in the future if requested.)
Can I Get The Details?
Of course! If you're anything like me, you like to give everything a once-over before deciding if you want to install it, and if what I've listed so far isn't enough or you're just too curious, click the SPOILER buttons for more in-depth information about the career itself.
When you hit the bulk of the career (levels 3 through 8), your sim will seem to be working a lot, increasing with each level. The career was designed to be like that, and it seemed like the most coherent way to have it.
But if you want your sim to have the random day off or such, you can call in for Unpaid Days Off or get the Vacationer Lifetime Reward, which will randomly give you days off. Be advised that I haven't bought that reward myself, so what I know of it is from reading online - but this seems not to tell you when your sim gets a day off, until you notice the carpool doesn't show up or they don't head for work by themselves.
Otherwise, the pay increases exponentially as well, so that's something to look forward to for all that hard work.
Work Schedule (days, hours, wages):
01 - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu - 12pm to 4pm - $50/hour
02 - Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri - 10am to 4pm - $80/hour
03 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4pm - $100/hour
04 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4pm - $125/hour
05 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4:30pm - $150/hour
06 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4:30pm - $200/hour
07 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4pm - $300/hour
08 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 4pm - $450/hour
09 - Mon through Fri - 09am to 5pm - $700/hour
10 - Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri - 09am to 5pm - $800/hour

The metrics used are a combination of mood, coworker relationship, reports filed and skills: Athletic, Charisma, Logic and Martial Arts.
Here's the list for each level, as well as the skill levels necessary for performance:
01 - mood, athletic (0-3), logic (0-3)
02 - mood, charisma (0-3), martial arts (0-3), athletic (3-5)
03 - mood, partner, logic (3-5), martial arts (3-5)
04 - mood, reports, partner, charisma (3-5)
05 - mood, reports, partner, logic (5-7)
06 - mood, reports, partner, martial arts (5-7)
07 - mood, reports, partner, athletic (5-7)
08 - mood, reports, partner, charisma (5-7)
09 - mood, reports, charisma (7-10), logic (7-10)
10 - mood, reports, athletic (7-10), martial arts (7-10)
You gain the ability to Question sims (option under Friendly or Mean Interactions) and writing reports at a computer at level 4, when it becomes a metric.
Though it's described as 'partner', any of your coworkers (dubbed 'teammate') will do. However, they're not cumulative, meaning whatever coworker you choose (or all if you want), as you progress through the career you will need to increase your sim's relationship with them to higher values.
Custom Tones Rundown:
McGarrettTM Dedication - Work Hard (increases performance, decreases Fun meter) [TM stands for trademark]

Case Closed Beer Break - Hang with Coworkers (builds relationships with coworkers)
Work the Case - raises Logic (skill booster, decreases Fun meter)
Interrogate Witnesses - raises Charisma (skill booster, increases Social meter)
Perp Chase Extravaganza - raises Athletics (skill booster, decreases Hygiene meter)
Military Survival Skills - raises Martial Arts (skill booster, decreases Energy meter)
Here's the list for each level, as well as the skill levels necessary for performance:

03 - mood, partner, logic (3-5), martial arts (3-5)
04 - mood, reports, partner, charisma (3-5)
05 - mood, reports, partner, logic (5-7)
06 - mood, reports, partner, martial arts (5-7)

Install Instructions
Quick Guide:
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.
For Package files:
1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
For Sims3Pack files:
1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
