Update 1/11/22: Added a new version of PK-Fell-Out-of-Love that uses DiLight’s OutOfLove Memory. See below for details.

Description

In a normal game, the way the Made Enemies with Subject, Made Best Friends with Subject, and Lost Subject As Best Friend memories work is totally inconsistent. By default, the Made Enemies with Subject memory is unique. The Made Best Friends with Subject memory, on the other hand, is unique per sim. But then the Lost Subject As Best Friend memory, as well as the milestone best friend memories (made 3, 5, 10, etc. best friends) are repeatable!

Then there’s the whole Falling in Love thing. By default, the Fell in Love with Subject memory is unique per sim. That’s not so bad by itself, but when you change the memory to be repeatable, the game also gives the memory when sims fall out of love. Why? Probably because there is no memory for falling out of love. I guess Maxis thought this key milestone didn’t deserve a memory. Or maybe they forgot.

What Does All This Mean?

Well, in a vanilla game:
1. A sim can get the Made Enemies with Subject memory exactly once in their lifetime, no matter how many enemies they make. If they make up with an enemy, but start feuding again, they do not receive another memory of becoming enemies again. If they make more than one enemy, they do not receive another memory of becoming enemies with the second sim.
2. A sim can only get the Made Best Friends with Subject memory once per sim. No matter how often a sim fights and makes up with another, they only get a memory of the first time they became best friends. The same is true for Falling in Love. No matter how many times your sim gets their significant other to forgive them and fall in love again, they will only receive the one memory, of the first time they fell in love.
3. Because the Lost Subject As Best Friend memory is repeatable, a sim can potentially get several memories of losing another as a best friend, without getting any memories of them making up.
4. Like I mentioned above, there is no memory for falling out of love. It just doesn’t exist.

What These Mod Collections Do

I’ve put together a series of mods that attempts to fix the above inconsistent nonsense. Memories will either be repeatable (my preference) OR unique per sim (for those who don’t like cluttered memory panels). But not both anymore. I’ve also made a memory for Falling out of Love.

PK-Repeatable-Relationship-Memories
Includes:
PK-Repeatable-Made-Enemy-Memory
PK-Repeatable-Made-Best-Friend-Memory
PK-Repeatable-Fell-In-Love-Memory

Each mod makes its respective memory repeatable, matching the Lost Subject As Best Friend memory. Sims will get a memory for every enemy, lover, and best friend they make. But also, sims will get a memory every time they become best friends or become enemies with a sim, even if they’ve done it before. No more gaps in memory.

Note: Each file is a standalone mod; you can install one, some, or all. These mods affect new memories only. Also, the Lost Subject As Best Friend memory is already repeatable by default and so not included.

PK-Unique-Per-Sim-Relationship-Memories
Includes:
PK-Unique-Per-Sim-Lost-Best-Friend-Memory
PK-Unique-Per-Sim-Made-Enemy-Memory

I have provided an alternate version, in case some prefer a less cluttered memory panel. In this zip, each mod makes its respectable memory unique per sim, matching the Made Best Friends with Subject and Fell in Love with Subject memories. Sims will get a memory for every enemy they make or best friend they’ve lost. But only one memory per sim, no matter how many times their relationship changes.

Note: Each file is a standalone mod; you can install one, some, or all. These mods affect new memories only. Also, the Made Best Friends with Subject and Fell in Love with Subject memories are already unique per sim by default and so not included.

PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory
Includes:
PK-Fell-Out-of-Love
PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory

PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory is the new memory; PK-Fell-Out-of-Love is the mod that makes it so that, when sims fall out of love, instead of getting the Fell In Love memory again, sims get the new Fell Out of Love Memory. Both files are required for PK-Fell-Out-of-Love.

Memory text was taken from the breakup memories and says “I guess love doesn't always last forever.” The icon used for the memory is a TS2 icon that looks like so:

Note: PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory is a standalone mod and does not require either of the other two zip files. It is also a custom memory mod that affects new memories only. Please backup your neighborhoods before installing and review the Installation and To Uninstall sections carefully before installing the mod.

PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version

A while ago, MescAline asked if PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory conflicts with DiLight’s Tattered Diary. It does not, since my memory uses a different GUID. But I do realize that some users of the Tattered Diary might not want to have two memories for the same thing. At the time of uploading, I completely forgot that DiLight's mod already includes a memory for falling out of love, or else I might have used that one. But better late than never, right? And it really wasn't a big deal to change the GUID to use DiLight's memory instead, so I have uploaded a new DiLight Version of Fell-Out-of-Love.

PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version
Includes:
PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version

In this version, instead of my memory, sims will get DiLight’s OutOfLove memory from DiLight's Tattered Diary (Custom Memories) when sims fall out of love, instead of getting the Fell In Love memory again.
The PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version file (included in the zip) AND DiLight’s OutOfLove memory are both REQUIRED for this version of the mod. DiLight’s OutOfLove memory is NOT INCLUDED. Please see DiLight’s Tattered Diary thread to download the OutOfLove Memory:
https://modthesims.info/d/526406/

Note: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH VERSIONS, REMOVE THE OLD MEMORY FROM ANY SIMS THAT HAVE IT AND CLEAR GOSSIP FROM THE HOOD.
Again, PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory is a custom memory mod, and removing custom memories carries a risk of corruption. So, if you would like to switch from the old PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory version to the new DiLight Version, I recommend the following steps:
1. backup your neighborhood(s)
2. Remove the old Fell Out of Love Memory from any sims that have it. Use Aaroneous' Memory Manipulator to remove memories in game or remove memories via SimPE (Memories - Changing and Removing Tutorial by $RaMRoM$).
3. Clear Gossip from the neighborhood(s)
4. Remove PK-Fell-Out-of-Love and PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory from your Downloads folder. Add PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version and DiLight’s OutOfLove Memory.

I do realize what a hassle it is to remove memories--I sincerely apologize for not providing a DiLight version at the time of original upload.

Otherwise, if you are installing the DiLight Version for the first time:
PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version is still a custom memory mod. You should backup your neighborhoods before installing and review the Installation and To Uninstall sections carefully. Also, just like in the original version, PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version affects new memories only.

Installation

Again, before installing PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory, or the DiLight Version, you should backup your neighborhood.

Otherwise, to install, simply put the files you want in your Downloads folder.

I recommend you choose either PK-Repeatable-Relationship-Memories OR PK-Unique-Per-Sim-Relationship-Memories. You can mix and match, in case you don’t like the combinations I’ve put together and would like to customize which memories are repeatable further. BUT! You cannot have both PK-Repeatable-Made-Enemy-Memory and PK-Unique-Per-Sim-Made-Enemy-Memory in your downloads folder. Choose one enemy memory mod (they edit the same thing).

Also, if you choose to install PK-Repeatable-Fell-In-Love-Memory, I strongly recommend that you also install PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory or PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version, or else sims will receive the Fell in Love with Subject memory when they fall out of love with a sim.

Finally, only install one Fell Out of Love memory mod. You cannot have both PK-Repeatable-Fell-In-Love-Memory and PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version in your downloads folder (they edit the same thing).

To Uninstall

Everything except PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory mod: simply remove files from your downloads folder.

Uninstalling PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory Mod, or the DiLight Version
Uninstalling a custom memory carries a risk of corruption. Before you install PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory or PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-DiLight-Version, you should backup your neighborhoods. To uninstall, you should remove the memory from any sims that have it and clear gossip from the affected hoods.

Compatibility

I made these mods using all EPs and SPs. I cannot guarantee they will work in any other game configuration. If you have a different EP/SP setup, try them at your own risk.

Conflicts

These mods will conflict with other mods that change the same memories. Known Conflicts:
DiLight's No More Stupid Memories! – Also edits the best friend memories
Midgethetree's Romantic Standards Fall Out of Love Memory Fix – Also fixes the issue of the game giving the Fell in Love memory when falling out of love
BoilingOil's No Trash Memories – Also edits the Made Best Friend memory

Again, because these mods edit the same memories, you should use one or the other. Otherwise, whichever mod loads lasts takes priority and determines what happens in the game.

So for users of BoilingOil's No Trash Memories, if you would like to use PK-Repeatable-Made-Best-Friend-Memory and keep the rest of the features of BoilingOil's mod, have my mod load last. Or you can delete the conflicting Bhav from BO's mod (BHAV – CT - Add Memory, Instance 0x00001002 (4098), Group 0x7F06D106).

Resources

Recommended Mods
There is no memory for losing a BFF; I don’t even think it’s possible to lose a BFF in a regular game. Fortunately, Cyjon’s Fragile BFF helps address this issue.

If you would like for the Fell in Love with Subject memory to be repeatable, but do not wish to install a custom memory mod, try Midgethetree's Romantic Standards Fall Out of Love Memory Fix instead of PK-Fell-Out-of-Love-Memory, or the DiLight Version.
