Cascadia Meditation Center - NO CC

My vague and omnipresent frustration at the lack of any kind of meditation center in my actual real-life city has spilled over into my creative process, and so I decided that my Sims needed a proper meditation center! After all, the chaos and constant go-go-go of city life can be draining, and some more contemplative Sims might find it useful to have somewhere to go for a guided meditation, a yoga class, or even just a properly brewed pot of tea without all the unnecessary and extravagant fuss of cream and honey and sugar!

Various facilities are scattered throughout the building, though for most of you I imagine the Zen Garden and tea shop on the first floor, the yoga studio on the third floor, and the guided meditation classroom on the fourth floor will get the most use! Other spaces can just be used for individual meditation or study as you see fit. The lot itself is designed to sit between two road, so both the front and rear facades are designed to ‘front’ onto a street, though it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to edit this in your game if you choose not to place it that same way.

I playtested this lot and I think all routing considerations should be fixed at this point- sadly Sims won’t line up neatly to perform Yoga or Tai Chi on the yoga mats or meditation cushions, I had to stage those very carefully in the screenshots, but there is ample space for those activities regardless! The playtesting and screenshots were all conducted on a clone, so the lot as uploaded has never been visited by Sims.

Compared to many of my creations this is a fairly small lot, only 3x3 and with a total value of $289,542, so it should be fairly simple for your game to run without much of any lag. I don’t think there’s any more crucial technical information to impart, so I hope you all enjoy the opportunity to bring a small measure of calm into the hubbub of your downtown urban landscapes with this lot!

Tea can be more than simply a beverage if you choose to allow it to be. Rather than a rushed cup of espresso or an over-brewed pot of coffee, taking the time to properly steep the tea leaves, to savor the fragrance of the drink as it brews, and to pause for a moment and respect yourself, your companions, and the tea itself can allow you to re-center yourself. Even the busiest of city days can be tempered with a simple cup of tea, and the time taken to allow yourself to enjoy it. We are delighted to offer the people of SimCity the chance to sample tea blends from fields and plantations throughout East Asia, from the humid near-jungle climate of Shang Simla to the cooler mountains surrounding Takemizu Village, and hope that this allows Sims the opportunity to consider the story of their tea leaves and the long journeys they have taken before being brewed and poured for you to enjoy!



Relax and reach towards the ceiling, reach as high as you can, reaching towards the skyscrapers of the city around you, stretching your arms and feeling the extension throughout your body. Hold the stretch as you exhale, feeling the relaxation of your muscles as you do. Now bring your arms down, down, down to the floor. Feel the pull releasing though your back as you reach towards the street below you. Now roll back up to standing and bring your arms through a circle… and back to your chest.
