Default Most uncommon or specific favourite CC?
Do you have a piece of CC that you just love and that you have in your game tima and time again, and that's a bit off the beaten path, or a bit weird, or just very specific to your playstyle and your neighbourhoods?

I came to think of this because I reread some of the thread about cultural backgrounds affecting how we play. I realised I have one very specific piece of CC that I have had at one point in nearly every neighbourhood, despite it being a bit old and buggy. It's this little set by a retired TSR creator who is Swedish like me. It lets a female sim child, teen or adult wear a lucia crown and be a lucia for a little while. It's nothing spectacular, really, just lets my sims share one of the Nordic traditions I love the most myself. I should perhaps warn anyone who might like to try it, that the lucia gown for children has something wrong with the bone assignments (I think? I'm no expert!) and as a consequence child sims wearing it might end up dropping their chins down through the floor in a true horror movie fashion. That should make it clear how much I love this piece of CC, still using it after all these years and with those possible side effects :D

The bone assignments look okay to me. Are you sure it isn't the crown, which has no bone assignments?

I love your take on that piecee of cc, @AnMal

My favourite cc is, I think, pretty normal - I always use Honeywell's nursery, and Exnem's dessert trolly (but I will have to go and search for something weird and wonderful now .

I have so many! Consistently in my game since 2005-ish have been Solander's veggies, and also WDS' Dasies in a pot and Todd FX's Sims 1 TV (updated here).

I've had Atavera's Window hack in game since it's release, too. I just like the detail!

I really love Marvine's alpha dress mesh too, so many recolours for it!

Wow, you actually looked ? I assumed it was the dress, since it's never happened with teens or adults, just children. But if you say it is the crown I will happily take your word for it! Thank you so much for telling me, now I'm one step closer to being able to fix it.

I love that TV. One day, I plan on having a neighbourhood with all the old recreated or converted sims 1 stuff in it.

I can't remember if I ever tested the crown ingame, but since it doesn't have bone assignments, it's possible the crown is based on the aspiration reward "hats" sims can put on and take off. These are a form of wearable objects, and not accessories/clothes (there's a difference).

How do they stay on the sim's head if they don't have 'head' bone assignments?

If it's an object, they probably get attached to a "prop slot" on the sim's head. If you've ever played around with small items and Moveobjects, you'd quickly discover a sim has a whole bunch of such slots, including one on their head, several around their hands, one around their hips (cue "potty toddlers in my belly"), and a bunch more. They're there for holding removable headgear, spatulas, pots'n'pans, books, babies, toddlers, you name it.

None of the "props" have bone assignments (I guess unless they have spesific animations on their own?)

I'm gay too (though celibate) but I really like the Maxis male bodyshape (the slim one -- NOT the fat morph!!). Indeed for me my Sim Julian Moltke-Jones is the quintessence of male beauty. I've posted lots of pictures of him, but, in case you don't know him, here's a snap of him taken last night at The Corner Shoppes in downtown Veronaville with his little brother Hans Moltke and his mum Manuela Moltke:
Julian is wearing my own teen conversion, and alpha layer edit, of Knightskykyte's Pretty Boy outfit, which is arguably the most uncommon and unusual piece of CC in my game. It's not uncommon in my game! A lot of my male Sims wear it either as their everyday or (more often) their formal outfit. Knightskykyte made over a hundred variants of that outfit and Van_Squirgle made some more without the platform shoes. I've added two or three more variants of my own, and used Van_Squirgle's as the basis for my teen conversions. All of them are townified in my game, which means new Sims often generate with them, often as everyday, very often as formal, and occasionally as sleep- and athletic wear. So, having at least one of these outfits in your wardrobe, is a way of showing the world that you're a Veronaville boy! Indeed the reason why the Moltkes were at The Corner Shoppes last night, was so that Martin Moltke (Julian's father) could buy some to use as his formal outfit. Here he is trying one on:

Another thing which I see all the time in my game, but seldom in other people's posts are the pendants from Noogie666's "Ball Chain" large collection of pendants. Here you can see Väinö Mikhailov and Iain Wells wearing them in the love tub belonging to Micah Vincent and Noah Hatherley in Greaves Avenue in downtown Veronaville.
Many Veronaville men and boys wear these pendants. They are especially popular in the large gay community.

I suppose my game is rather on the eccentric and unusual side. Aside from NPCs in uniforms or quasi-uniforms, hardly any of my Sims wear long trousers or long skirts. Both male and female Sims tend to wear short shorts, which invariably finish well above their knees. Boys and girls vie with each other to see who can find the shortest shorts. Most Sims wear undies at home, only putting their shorts on to go out! So I have an "underwear after shower" mod. I also like to look after my Sims and keep them happy and safe from any real danger. So I have mods like Squinge's No More Fires, No More Hauntings and No Alien Abductions.

Finally to keep my Sims really happy (especially the Romance ones) I put in LizzLove's "No Jealousy at all" mod. This was at the specific request of Andrew and Julian, when they simultaneously fell in love with very promiscuous gay teen Jack Gill, and insisted that they could include him their long and previously monogamous relationship! (I persuaded them to include Jack's long term and long-suffering live-in boyfriend Ravi Bertino in this new ménage à quatre too.) Andrew and Julian are still married and they still passionately love each other, but now they love Jack and Ravi too! Of course this mod applies to everyone, and let's just say, a lot of my Sims are finding it liberating. The removal of jealousy has added yet more freedom to an already quite liberated and utopian society. About the only one still trying to maintain traditional sexual standards is poor old Mrs. Crumplebottom, and frankly she's fighting a losing battle. I fear she's turning to drink!

So, all told, my game is more than a little out of ordinary, but I enjoy it, and so, maybe more importantly, do my Sims! In fact I think my Sims are some of the happiest in the entire Sims universe! In almost thirteen years playing, not a single Sim has died. I've never seen the Grim Reaper in my game! Long may it continue thus!!

@simmer22 : I tried to follow the link in strawberrybl0nde's last post. It led to your site moonlightdragon, but it wouldn't let me in unless I registered for tapatalk (which I'd never even heard of before!). I'm sure I've been on moonlightdragon before (a few years ago) and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to to register for anything back then. It seems a bit unreasonable to have to register just to look. (You will no doubt remember when Bulbizzare had the user name "Ihatemandatoryregister". Back then you had to register here on ModtheSims in order to download, but even then you could look without registering. I registered because I knew there was a lot of stuff that I wanted here on MTS, but I had had a good look at the site first -- that's how I knew there was stuff I wanted here.) I'm very glad I did register here, because, as I'm sure you've all noticed, it didn't take long till I became a "Mad Poster" here! I'm not against registering in principle, but I find it a hassle to have to register on sites and services I seldom use. I forget what user name and password I've used.

So do I really need to register with tapatalk, just to see the pacifier that strawberrybl0nde linked to?

@AndrewGloria

It's an accessory for babies and/ or toddlers (two versions) by Theraven (Simmer22). You need insim or some other mod that allows you to change babies' appearance to use it.

(I had a tapatalk account from when I frequented Neighborhood99, so I'd already joined this forum. But I do agree with you, I'd rather not have accounts!)

I guess maybe my answer to this is my fairy changelings mod, which never gained much popularity, but obviously I made it because I wanted to use it.

2 of the 4 hacks that I use are relatively rare-the "visitor manager" and "sim control mirror" by ChristianLov, the "Biorythmus Clock" by XPTL, and also the DMA Teleport panel.

Between the 4 of them they make for a lively engaging community. They make people come into the lot, stay there, and when they're too much to handle, you can send them all home, then make the residents tired enough to go to bed.

Kestrellyn, I thought that was a really popular mod! At one point, every sims 2 legacy challenge I followed had at least one fairy changeling.

Fran H, is the Teleport panel working okay in your game then? I used to use it long ago but it's not worked for me for ages.

It works fine in limited fashion-I just use it for making people tired, telephone call notifications, giving out inventory goodies, getting rid of people and checking on pregnancies. I separated it out from the rest of the DMA stuff a long time ago.

I have the Apt life version, unfortunately it's part of the set, but you can just use it as a stand alone object.

I've not used the complete DMA set per se in years-because it doesn't work properly-just that one object in limited fashion. I don't need that entire caboodle of things.

Here's the booty download link for the whole set:

http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/booty/ts2/dmasims/

it's under the "Workers" set of any EP set. Labeled "dmaOBJECT_Teleport".

Haha, really? That's awesome to hear. I didn't know people were still posting legacy challenge stories, I guess I don't know what platform people are using to post them now.

I was mostly going off the stats here on MTS for the popularity, but I guess maybe even my mods that seem "unpopular" in comparison to others are still pretty popular from other people's perspectives, haha.
