Say Thanks!
Thanked!
All right, after a few month hiatus from The Sims, I have started playing again, and finished up a house I had started. I thought some of you might like it.
Description:
This is a two story A-Frame, with an attached garage. The roof overhangs walkways on either side. The main floor has numerous split levels and a stand alone modular staircase. Whew! This was a holy pain to make because it has so many difficult building features all in one. I don't recommend messing with the constrainfloorelevation cheat at all once you get it installed. =P
Features:
It is a pretty large 4 bedroom, 5 bath home with a nursery, breakfast nook, roomy kitchen, huge dining room, living room, rec room and some spaces you can use as common areas or dens. It's on a 3x5 lot, and sells for 127,704 simoleons.
This house is pretty much unfurnished, outside of some dining stuff for demo purposes and the kitchen/nook. Normally I do the bathrooms, but at this point I figure almost everyone will just tear them out to put in custom stuff anyway, so I did not do them this time.
With the exception of a couple custom things, anything used for building or furnishings will use Maxi's objects from Nightlife, so you will need this EP installed for this lot.
Custom content:
This has been scanned with Sims2 Clean Installer and contains no hacks. It contains the following custom content:
-Windkeeper's Open me tall windows - Thread found here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=101157
-Maxi's Missink Point Mystery Topiary, from the Sims2 main site. (the pyramid shaped one)
-1 Floor and 4 walls in Light Red Brick, recolored from Maxis brick walls by me. There is a whole set of them in different colors here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=105641
Pictures:
Exterior Front - Angle
Exterior Back
Exterior Side
Floorplan shot per level, labelled.
Foyer/Entrance
Kitchen/nook
Living room
Note on putting up curtains:
All of the first floor windows are at the elevation they would be if the entire interior was on a foundation. However several of the rooms on the main floor are "sunken" so to speak, and you won't be able to hang curtains at the right height unless you have grid squares of the correct height in front of each window. This is easy enough to do: just run your elevation tool across the front of them (but dont use constrainfloorelevation unless you are good at working with different elevations). You will need to move the kitchen counters and the breakfast nook out of the way temporarily in order to raise the grid there for curtains.
Edit/PS. I am decorating and furnishing this house and re: curtains. I had no problems putting curtains up at all - I did not have to move counters etc. Just one tricky spot - 1st floor marked Family Room, I had to temporarily move the archway nearest the window away in order to get a grid square for curtains there.
Any problems let me know and I will fix and re-upload
Enjoy!

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

About Me
As you can tell by my uploads, I love to build ^^. I used to draw houses when I was a kid, and my first aspiration was to be an architect! Of course this never happened - but now I am happy to make houses...in the Sims 2 ...and happier still that so many very talented creators have helped to make so many lovely things for the houses!
My policy...
My walls etc - To upload elsewhere: just send me a note to ask permission, and give credit. For houses uploaded to MTS2, just give a link to the page and credit, and you may include the walls and floors no problem!
