Description:
For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 19
is a small house, probably older than the rest of Backdoor Lane, that is situated at an alley or throughway off the main street. It has a garden on the street side and a little square in front, each with a sitting area; two cars can park in the alley. Most of the inside of the house (the basement and a large part of the ground floor) is taken up by a store that currently sells antiques, leaving a combined kitchen/dining/living room on the ground floor and a bedroom upstairs for the owner.

The store has three rooms -- there's *so much* stuff in the catalogue that looks vaguely antique --, two in the basement and one on the main floor. From behind the register, stairs lead up to a little office area and from there on up through a lockable gate to the bedroom and bath. The kitchen/living/break room is accessible from the store and has a back door out to the side alley and the garden.

1 x double bedroom
2 x bathroom (one private, one public)
1 x kitchen/dining/living room
3 x store room

* The red couch in front of the cashier desk is not meant to be on sale -- the admiration queue would probably collide with the register queue ... I put it there for folks to sit on and chat.

* I realized only *after* doing the pretty little garden that this is going to be a residential lot, so I haven't taken trimmability of bushes into account. Not sure how many of them will survive.

* Not all of the items in the store can be sold -- what's not in the Buy Mode catalogue (unlocked in-game items) is usually considered decorative as far as the game is concerned. Some items, however, do work -- the CAS lights in the basement, for example, can be sold and restocked just fine.

* This makes an excellent corner lot, but it's also good to use inside a block: the main entrance + square line up exactly with the alleyway behind a neighbouring lot that's 2 tiles deep.

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available, as well as for the driveway and my favourite fence =).

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.
