SimTown Studios Soundstage and Backlot

Big screen magic is alive once more in SimCity.

For the first time in SimCity history, SimTown Studios has opened the SimTown Studios Soundstage and Backlot for public tours, for a limited time. The tours offer a rare glimpse into the Golden Age of movie history.

Attractions promised to be included on the soundstage portion of the tour include the Detective Agency office set of the popular Film Noir private detective Smoke Wilson. True fans will delight in catching a glimpse of the detective's trademark fedora and trenchcoat, hanging on a coatrack in the corner. Also included in the soundstage tour will be set of the award-winning film Ballroom, where the magical pairing of Claudette Marque and Charles Harris first sizzled on the big screen. The collaboration of this bewitching pair extended beyond the silver screen, as many fans will remember, resulting in a legendary twenty-five-year romance between the two. Unknown to the public until very recently, Charles commemorated his love for Claudette privately in a painted portrait of the stunning silver-screen beauty. Miss Marque has very graciously allowed the one-of-a-kind portrait to be put on display at the SimTown Studios soundstage. The painting promises to be the highlight of the soundstage tour.

The backlot portion of the tour will include the dusty street set where Miss Ruby bid a tearful good-bye to Marshal Rand in the classic western Sandstone Trail. A little-known tidbit of movie trivia is that this set was also used in one shot of the movie Saloon. On screen for less than three seconds, the shot is a challenge for sharp-eyed viewers to pick out, but was a perfect addition to set the atmosphere of the movie. Visitors will also see the set of the bridge that took a pounding, but sheltered our brave Allied heroes in the World War II film Guns on the Front Line. This set has been dedicated to SimCity's veterans of all wars.
