After it's become clear that shrinking lots right up to the edge of a building is not a safe thing to do, Mootilda and others have done a lot more research and came up with a version of the LotExpander -- now available as LotAdjuster 1.0 -- that handles the shrinking differently and will resize a lot down to one tile from the edge but no further than that. I've been using it to make this lot which is kind of a "pilot upload" to find out whether or not the new version is safe to use. Please report any crashes, irregularities etc in this thread (do not PM me).
* EXPERIMENTAL *
This is a test lot. Only download this if you are willing to provide informative feedback in case anything goes wrong. Back up your game before installing it. Do not use this lot for your favourite family in your favourite neighbourhood. It has not been crashing so far -- and we have reason to assume it won't, since the current version of the LotExpander underwent significant code changes related to the shrinking --, but previous shrunk lots did and they've been causing data corruption even when they didn't actually crash. So please be careful -- even though it's not likely, I don't want to be responsible if you blow up your game. Thank you.
Do not redistribute this lot under any circumstances.

Description:
For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.
Backdoor Lane 44:
A city starter on a 1x2 mini lot, furnished for up to three sims with room for more. Kitchen/dining, nursery and bathroom on the ground floor, living room, two bedrooms and another bathroom upstairs, empty basement. There is enough room for a driveway in the backyard (place it with moveobjects on; I recommend frillen's Invisible Driveway), as well as a bit of lawn that can be turned into a garden.
1 x double bedroom
1 x single bedroom (empty)
2 x bathroom (1 furnished)
1 x kitchen/dining
1 x living room
1 x nursery
1 x basement (empty)
All basics included, with a stove and a stereo on top. Playtested for a couple days each in Base+NL with no hacks and Base+NL+OfB+Seasons+FTp0 with lots of hacks; 7PM came and went, no crashes or problems found. Playtested by others as well (not sure about their game configuration).
Please note: If you want to make structural changes to this lot, be aware that the last two tiles from the edge are unbuildable in exactly the same way as on all other lots, which includes the outermost tiles of the house in this case. You should be able to modify all inside walls since they're perpendicular to the lot edge, but not the left and right outside walls (parallel to the lot edge), the roof, stairs, half walls, foundations, or floor tiles on level 1 and up.

Install Instructions
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
