Swimmable Lake (BaseGame)
Custom content included: a transparent floortile by RGiles, a column by Reyn, and Open underneath Wooden Stairs by crocobaura.
If you want to install the stairs properly, please follow the directions given in the thread linked above. This lot will work just fine if you don't, but you won't be able to select or change the stairs or use them in other lots (they won't show up in the catalogue, which is what the installation procedure is for).
Description:
Swimmable lake on a 3x3 lot, with bathrooms and a small grilling area. Looks nice at night and in winter as well, and is fishable if you have Seasons. Playtested in the base game and in Base+SSN.
See this tutorial for info on how to make lakes like this one.
For non-basegame users, I recommend frillen's floortile hider (it's not basegame compatible, or I would have used it) -- if you put that on the swimming surface, the floortile edges become invisible and the whole thing looks truly seamless. Right now, the edges are mostly hidden by plants, but from some angles you can still see them.
Known issues (that I can't do anything about):
* Because the swimmable surface is slightly underneath the visible water surface, sims dip a little deeper into the water than usual when they swim (see last pic). I don't mind this, to me it looks simply like a less grandmotherly style of swimming.
* When jumping off the diving board there's one point when the sim's feet clip through the board -- I think this is also a side effect of the water surface being lower than the game thinks it is. I haven't been able to take any pics of this due to my playtesting sim being such a wuss (she refused to dive no matter what) .. but it's not really noticeable in-game, since that part of the animation goes by really fast.
Lot Size: 3x3

- Wooden Stairs Open Underneath by crocobaura

Install Instructions
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
