Country life for the Sims2. The floor plan is very playable and suitable for two generations.
The house has living room, dining room, library and kitchen + two smaller rooms downstairs and 4 large bedrooms & two bathrooms upstairs. It is only partially furnished leaving you the possibility to use your favourite furniture. The big front garden is filling most of the 3x5 lot. I recommend hiring a gardener
I wanted to build a country manor house for my game and it turned out ok so I thought I'd share. No custom content or sims included in the package.
This is what the lot looks like from the street. I've left enough room for a car drive-way should you like to add one later.
The mail box is not included in the download package. It's from Simgedoehns, the Avanti Entrance Set, should you want it (you'll find it under Misc).

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

About Me
When building houses, I tend to use Maxis content only because we all have our favourite custom content. I put great emphasis on the playability of the lots to keep the simmies happy. I suppose I just can't stand seeing the simmies stomp their feet in anger...
Being a story writer, I'm still a big fan of TS2. (We do have also TS3 in the household but, however, I'm not playing. The looks of the pudding faced sims simply don't appeal to me at all).
Having downloaded a considerable amount of custom stuff from MTS, I've decided to start contributing something myself. I've only just begun but there's more to come.
You may use my stuff in your game as you please and have them in your stories, if you like. No problem. I don't care as long as you don't upload to another site and claim as your own.
