Application to convert audio files

It takes the audio files extracted from SimPE (Usually mistaken for mp3's) to wav format. Just rename the mp3 files extracted to be a .xa and use this tool to convert to .wav

There are 3 (at least) audio file types used in the sims. If you look at the Uncompressed Data tab in simpe, you can tell what it is.

starts with...
XA - Maxis sound file that can be converted to .wav

SPX1 - Maxis speech audio or something like that. I don't think there is any converters for this. Fortunatly its mostly used for the non-inteligable speach of the sims.

ASCII characters simular to .û.@.....K. - Its an MP3
