ECO SANCTUARY

A paragon of modern environmental design, this house shows that living green and living comfortably go hand-in-hand. Plants and natural materials are the main theme of this design, and nearly every room has a view of the central courtyard. A rooftop garden also extends the 'backyard space' of the house, with additional room for your gardening sims.

Green design features:
- All flooring made from reclaimed lumber.
- Green roof to reduce water runoff.
- Photovoltaic panels which provide clean renewable electricity.
- No parking lot - bikes & pedestrians only!
- Passive-solar orientation of windows.

A Quick Note About Orientation
For maximum versimilitude ('realness'), this house should be rotated to maximize/minimize solar heating energy through the main windows. If you are in a cold climate, the main windows should face solar noon (ie, the direction indicated by the arrows in the orientation diagram). If you are in a warm climate, then the main windows should face away from solar noon. Another way to 'find' solar noon is to look at the house's shadow at 12:00 noon. In all cases, the photovoltaic panels should face solar noon to maximize their effectiveness.
