April 14, 2015: Smaller Size & Improved Foreign Support
When I designed this project I included some international language support. Unfortunately, non-English language users experienced incorrect labeling and erratic menu operation because of this. My appreciation goes to Alraris for alerting me to these issues. This release is intentionally unilingual, reducing filesizes by up to 50%, which is of benefit to all users. Please install the contents of sdHazardWellSsn_Hazard.zip to upgrade.
Thanks to Shinigamigurl's diligent observations concerning possible problems with the aging to elder transition, I have adjusted the coding to prevent Sims from disappearing from their home lots. In the case of Sims at home, they will have 35% chances of either a fortunate or unfortunate outcomes in lieu of a 10% chance of vanishing. In addition, the randomness factor of the well has been somewhat improved by using a replacement algorithm.
Selectable Mode Update, March 8, 2013
In response to donnlap's wish, the Wells of Hazard can now be optionally locked into any of one their five modes: Healing, Cursed, Sleep, Disappearance, or Neutral. But by default, the well still produces randomly hazardous outcomes.

Purpose
Inspired by mangaroo's request (Post #35), to create a Seasons Wishing Well that in its default Hazardous or Risky Mode will randomly produce good, bad, or neutral outcomes, as follows:
1) If fortunate (30% chance), the well acts as a Healing Well, to clean, comfort and heal any Sim who drinks from it.
2) If unfortunate (30% chance), the well is Cursed to poison a Sim who drinks from it, terminate pregnancy, and produce bad outcomes to wishes.
3) If strangely affected (10% chance), the well's water will cause a little anxiety, then put the Sim to Sleep.
4) If freakishly affected (10% chance), drinking from the well will cause the Sim to disappear, but the Disappearance is not permanent.
5) If Neutral (20% chance), the well will work similarily to an ordinary EA wishing well.
6) Alternatively, the Hazardous or Risky Mode can be disabled, with the well locked into any one of its five behaviours by using the Select Mode menu option.

General Description
These wells are slaved to EA's original, so all Seasons well recolours such as my 70+ Tiny Fizesize Seasons Wishing Well Recolours (shown in the screenshots) and 36 Seasons Wishing Well Recolours Using Michelle's Pooklet & Special Textures (also available here) will work with the Wells of Hazard.
Unlike the original EA well, making a wish at a particular Well of Hazard does not lock out making wishes at any other well that may be on the same lot.
The Wells of Hazard come in both roofed and roofless (includes the bucket and winch components but not the roof) versions. The two versions of the well are found in Decorative/Sculpture, as follows:
§2521 Roofless Well of Hazard
§2522 Covered Well of Hazard
These Wells come with three of the optional memory files distributed with my original Cursed and Healing wells, in addition to two new memory files. All five applicable memory files are included in the Wells of Hazard download.
Sims are autonomously attracted to drink from the well by their needs for cooling, for comfort, and to satisfy thirst. The well's Blessing & Curse (Hazard) feature may be disabled by menu option if desired.

Healing Mode
Any ill Sim drinking from the well in Healing Mode (30% probability) will be cured of disease. The Healing Mode uses an extension of the coding from Grandma's comfort soup to instantly cure any disease that a Sim may have, including morning sickness. Unlike the actual Healing Well, simply standing near the Hazard Well in Healing Mode will not have any effect - the Sim has to actually drink the water for healing to occur.
Healing Mode will also restore a Sim's comfort and hygiene (the Water need for PlantSims), neutralize body temperature, and briefly maximize Mood.
Each Sim who has been healed will gain a unique "Healed!" memory.
Cursed Mode
In Cursed Mode (30% probability) the well gives food poisoning to any Sim who drinks from it. Unlike the diseases that may be caught from Plague Wells, the poisoning is completely non-contagious. A Sim may recover from the poisoning through rest, or by using any other curative method, including drinking from a Hazard Well if it happens to be in Healing Mode. But note that if a pregnant Sim drinks from the well, it is highly likely that the poison will cause a miscarriage.
Poisoned Sims immediately lose comfort, and also have temporary dip in Mood.
Those who are poisoned will gain a one-time "Poisoned!" memory, and Sims who miscarry will gain a repeatable "Had a Miscarriage" memory.
Sleep Mode
In Sleep Mode (10% probability) the well water acts like a narcotic, causing a brief psychological disruption before knocking the Sim out cold. Typically the Sim will crash on the ground or floor somewhere, and it is to be hoped that this does not occur outside on a cold winter's night!
Narcotized Sims will gain a repeatable "Drugged" memory.
Vanishing Mode
If the well happens to cause a Sim's disappearance (10% probability), note that there is nothing permanent about this; it is not a death. NPCs will simply reappear from the NPC pool when the game calls for it, and player characters will show up at home, or at their temporary residence if on vacation. In the case of Sims at home, they will not disappear but will instead have 35% chances of either a fortunate or unfortunate outcomes.
Sims who have disappeared will gain a repeatable "Vanished" memory.
Neutral Mode
If a Sim drinks from these wells when in Neutral Mode (20% probability), the results are the same as for the EA original - for example, regular Sims can cool off and PlantSims gain a strong boost to their Water requirements.
Wishes
If the using any of the Modes except Hazardous (Risky) or Cursed, the probability curve for successful wishes is 100% for the first wish and 0% for the tenth, similar to the original EA wishing well.
If used in the default Hazardous condition then the well uses an blending between the standard probability curve and a cursed curve - an inverse curve in which the first wish has a 0% success rate and the tenth has a 100% chance of success. For any given wish, there is a 70% probability of using the standard curve and a 30% probability of using the cursed curve. Due to this random interplay between the two curves, the overall success rate for the well in the Hazardous state varies from a 70% success rate for the first wish to a 30% success rate for the tenth.
If locked in to the Cursed Mode, the inverse curve is used exclusively, providing a 0% success rate for the first wish and a 100% success rate for the tenth.

Terms of Use
You may include the Wells of Hazard and optional memories in uploaded lots, whether for free or pay.
I would encourage you to please include the five associated memory files when uploading a Hazard Well with a lot. But having said this, note that the memory files are completely optional and not required for proper operation of the objects.
When uploading any of this content, please include a credit and link to this page. It would be nice if you sent me a PM with a link to your uploaded creation, but that is not necessary.
